I'm hearing rumors about Down With Love...

I'm reading rumors that this new Zellweger/Obi-Wan Kenobi romantic comedy was shot with old cinemascope lenses and in 3 strip technicolor to recreate the look of early '60s cinema. Is any of this true? Or just the result of dumb critics who don't know what their talking about?

The opening credits claim it was shot in CinemaScope (right after the 20th Century Fox logo). I don't know if it's an homage or if it's true, but the film did have a very "retro" feel to it. But that could have been due to the sets and costumes, which were wonderful.

I thought I read somewhere that it was just a homage to films of '60s cinema. I just saw it w/ the wife and I must say that it was funnier than hell if you are a fan of the '60s film it was parodying. **** out of *****. I was very impressed w/ the overall production and look of the film - it really looked like it was filmed during that era. Very well written. Ewan McGregor was excellent. He really outdoes himself in this one - I can't see many actors pulling off this role the way he did. Renee Zellweger was pretty good, too. I liked Sarah Paulson - she is so cute. And David Hyde Pearce fit in nicely.

Anyway - great production, great writing, great cast. I cannot believe how surprised I was by this film.

Loved it... and I heard they did everyhting they could to capture that feeling of the 60's. If it included doing it Cinemascope, kudos to them!

I have a friend (he's 30) and still uses garters on his socks!

What?!? You mean you don't?

I'd like to see this film. I am a fan of those movies. Two Day movies still make me laugh: Pillow Talk and That Touch of Mink.

Chose this over "Matrix Reloaded" this weekend, as I HATE crowds. The film was pretty enjoyable -- I dislike most romcoms and only saw it for Ewan.

I went and saw this on a whim more or less today. Thought it might have a chance of being decent and been a fan of Ewan forever. I was shocked at how funny and good it was. I laughed my ass off. Especially toward the end where Renee has that long monologue (those who saw it know what I am talking about.) As she kept going on and on with the camera just sitting still on her, I kept cracking up.

And the musical number at the end was damn hilarious and very well done. Good film that I would recommend to any one. Probably going to go back and see it before it leaves theaters and dammit, my DVD buying mentality already has me salivating over the eventually DVD release.

I am very excited about seeing this, just haven't had a chance yet. Have we had any actual confirmation of Cinemascope
