I would say The Rock, but I voted for the worthless hack option.

ive very excited to read grouchos comments in that it is even better than he thought! very tempted to read the spoiler but didnt. cant friggin wait!!!!

The only positive thing to say about Bay:
his cinematography is generally great.

I thought the fact that he mentioned "great script and acting" in a Michael Bay movie but nothing about action would be hint enough.

My absolute favorite work by Michael Bay is...that commercial with the invisible people taking off their clothes...it was a levi's jean ad or something. By far his best work.

Second place goes to ...err...The Rock, a midly enjoyable headache inducing spectacle of idiocy, though it does have one line that I really like. The "winners go home and f**k the prom queen" line. Very funny in a thick Sean Connery accent. Bad Boys was ok, hated Armageddon, Pearl Harbor was a waste of some truly great effects work, and...well those are the only movies I think he made. If I'm forgetting one, don't remind me what it is.

To call Michael Bay a hack is to give hacks everywhere a bad name.

Michael bay may not be good with character scenes but he is incredible with what I like to call the "Hero" shot. He incorporates it into each one of his movies.

The Rock - The scene where Stanley is waving the green smoke as the jets fly over.

Bad Boys - The scene where Will Smith is chasing the bad guys on foot and jumps on top of a car with his gun drawn.

Armageddon - The slow-mo shot of the astronauts walking side by side to the launch pad.

Pearl Harbor - The shot where Danny and Rafe are flying and their planes burst through a thick cloud of black smoke.

atari, if you are under the impression that someone actually grows more intelligent by being here longer, you are sadly mistaken. Hell, I lost 37 brain cells just reading this thread.

no but if you are under the impression that people can laugh at another persons opinion thinking a movie is good or bad, well thats just pathetic. and thats exactly what his reply was.

All style and no substance that is the best way to describle a Michael Bay movie. And besides he is nothing more than a hack.

So what is a definition of a hack? A director that make a gripload at the box office and gets panned by the critics? I enjoy his movies, the feel of it and the shots are cool.

Pathetic or not, he certainly can do it. He is not violating any forum rules by doing so.

"The Rock" was the only movie he did that I actually loved.

All the other stuff was garbage.

Oh, and guys leave Atari alone, if you don't like his opinion, then just ignore it. It's his opinion about "Bad Boys" and there's nothing wrong with it, leave the guy alone and grow the hell up, you are doing nothing but starved for attention and trying to get a rise out of someone which is very inappropriate, this is a damn discussion board, people have the freedom to express any opinion they want, shhheeeeeeeeeessshhhh......

thanks rocky.

if this board is going to allow posters to freely and openly insult and laugh at other peoples opinions while providing no substance or reasoning (not to mention its an OPINION, and thus cannot be wrong EVER and cannot be proven either way) then it will go to hell and choas will ensue. guaranteed.

its one thing to debate how good or bad a movie is, but to just laugh at another opinion, when everyone shares many different opinions about movies/dvds, is just a bad idea, as well as immature, ignorant and just plain rude.

so if he wants to make such pathetic comments and this board finds it not only acceptable but appropriate, then i feel changes should be made. isnt there a thing called threadcrapping here? i know this isnt it, but isnt the basic premise the same?
