X-Men 2 has an estimated take of $12 million on Friday, brining it's take up to about $120 million so far. That's impressive.

Daddy Day Care was estimated to take in about $8.2 million on Friday.

I'm surprised it's not doing better. Apart from Lizzie Maguire, there's really no 'dumb kids fare' for dumb parents to bring dumb kids to.

Wow, X2 is off almost 63% from last weekend. It looks like it's following Daredevil in terms of box-office performance.

At this rate, it may not cross $200 million, especially with Matrix on the horizon which will cannibalize much of the same audience.

Still though, $120 million is nice change for 8 days of release.

I think it'll cross $200 million. X-men will make about $16 million today and about another $10 million tomorrow. It'll be up around the $150 million mark at the end of the weekend. The Matrix sequel will surely cannibalize it's box office take, but I can't imagine it not gobbling up at least another $50 million in it's run.

Wow, I really thought X2 would avoid its predeccesor's 50% week two drop off simply because it was a better movie than the first that a more mass audience could get into. It should still cross 200 million, more than enough to warrant an X3, but not with that much larger of a budget.

X2 is projected to take in around $40 million this weekend, which is still pretty nice chunk of change. I think Fox will be happy if X2 brings in around $200-$225 million at the box office (which would be about 50% better than X1.

Or perhaps, people have kids (the key demographic) who want to see it, and that accounts for most of its business (plus the parents who take their kids to see this movie).

When a movie brings in so much money the first week a large percentage drop is inevitable for the second. If it brings in $40M then that'd be a very good opening weekend total, let alone second week.

X2 brought in $41 million this weekend, that's great for a second week since it debuted so high. it will $250 easily. I wouldn't be surprised if X2 and Matrix are neck and neck throughout the summer.

hmmmmm.....What it boils down to is the R vs. Pg-13 rating. I just hope Matrix with the R still pulls in high numbers (which it will)


Hell maybe number wise X2 will be high next week with kids buying tickets for X2 and sneaking into matrix

I really do hope security is tight at the theater and keeps kids out of R rated showings. Not that I don't want teens to see Matrix, I just don't like it when R movies with blockbuster potential don't reach it because most of the people who saw it didn't buy tickets. (Starship Troopers comes to mind.)

I hate judging by $$$ because prices change.

More people saw Star Wars than Titanic, but prices were a lot cheaper in 1977. Heck, Gone With The Wind should be up there too.

Results SHOULD be the $$$ divided by average ticket cost to get attendance. OR JUST COUNT THE TICKETS.

ONLY THEN would we know which movies were more popular.

Books, CDs.... all judge on number sold, not $$$ intake.
