The Animatrix thread

Well since all the shorts that were going to be put out have been placed out I figured why not start a thread about it.

Now I was able to get ahold of all the shorts and have taken a quick look at some (I'll get to all later) and well this is going to be one nice dvd set.

The layout.

so far I have seen:

Final Flight of the osris
Second ren. 1
second ren. 2
Program
World Record
Kid's story
Detective story
Beyond
Matriculated

Over all, the dvd is damn great. My favorites in the series were Final Flight, Kid's story, and Beyond.

Beyond had a sort of Waking life animation to it and it really was a neat story. Kid's story had the voices of keanu and carrie ann, which helped a lot and the over all sketchy art to it really helped it stand on it's own. Great stuff.

From the set MATRICULATED was the one that I didn't like, or didn't enjoy much. it tells the story of trying to convert one of the robots to the human side. it seemed to lack in some aspect and really, it looked more like an acid trip then anything else.
More later.

to provide a sort of discussion, which ones have you've seen and which ones have you've enjoyed the most so far?

I've only seen the 4 free ones....

I really liked the 2nd ren, both parts....I liked part 2 better than one. I liked the backstory of the fall of the humans.

If you buy the Matrix Reloaded cd album (package), they have an extended trailer previewing all of the Animatrix pieces on the second disc. After seeing that, I'm pretty content with waiting until June. All good things will come... right?

I've also seen them all, and agree that Matriculated felt a bit out of place and lacking.

I've seen all of them, and I thought Kid's Story wasn't very good. I thought Matriculated was all right; it introduces some new 'mechana' designs which I thought were good. Frankly, while I liked the animation, I found the stories lacking. The writing felt constrained.

I loved The Second Renaissance, both parts of which are not available at the official site. That's a scary concept.
