I enjoy the classics much more than I enjoy modern movies, so in that regard there are just too many that I call "favorites" that I would struggle to narrow it down to ten, let alone five:

James Stewart
Gary Cooper
Cary Grant
William Holden
Alec Guinness
Burt Lancaster
Orson Welles
Jack Lemmon
Charlton Heston
Tony Curtis
Claude Rains
Bette Davis
Grace Kelly
Donna Reed
Ingrid Bergman
Gloria Swanson

And a few of my favorite character actors:
Ward Bond
Henry Travers
Ernest Borgnine
Thelma Ritter
Jack Hawkins

Without a doubt, my 2 favorites:
John Wayne & Errol Flynn

Lesser known (perhaps), but very high on my favorites list:
Richard Widmark
Robert Taylor
Jeff Chandler

Other well-known favorites:
Bud Abbott & Lou Costello
Charlton Heston
Kirk Douglas
Gary Cooper
Gregory Peck
Jimmy Stewart
Burt Lancaster

Can't forget to include:
Randolph Scott
Anthony Quinn
Glenn Ford
Audie Murphy
Stewart Granger

(edited to add) I shouldn't neglect to include:
Henry Fonda

DVDJay - on your list and comment about classic movies. Another for mentioning Claude Rains
and Gloria Swanson. They are both sadly neglected when it comes to these threads. Many forget that Gloria Swanson was a great deal more than Sunset Blvd.

BTW: Many members of this forum know that I consider Sunset Blvd to be a perfect 10 as far as movies go. IMHO to change a thing would be to make it less than the "perfect" film it is. I just felt like saying that

flixtime - You always get a I have come to expect that anything you post should be read with interest.

I'm really happy that you mentioned names like Jeff Chandler, Richard Widmark, Randolph Scott, Glenn Ford and Stewart Granger (just to name some without repeating the whole list).

These actors are amazingly looked over too often

BTW: I'm sorry I haven't been posting over the past few months. As you know I've been having health problems over the past 2+ years. The last few months have in particular been pretty awful.

I have been spending about 3 days a week at the doctors and am quite tired to do anything by the time I get home. In fact, I saw 3 on Monday alone (which is nothing unusual).

I just found 3 new specialists who have been doing more to help me than all those I've seen in the past few years. So, things are begining to look up.

I'll try to post more as my health and time (as I'm still selling the house to move to AZ) permits. Today has been a good day, so I'm posting.

Take care.......Feel free to e-mail me if you get the chance. I think you have my private address (if I remember correctly)

Dimension X - As usual your list is top shelf. I know we discussed this before......But I wish you had included Cary Grant.......Since you didn't I've included your favorite gif below
