Strangers on a Train and The Manchurian Candidate remakes!

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,71468,00.html

Even though Paramount announced last week that Oscar-winner Denzel Washington was going to star in a remake of The Manchurian Candidate, the deal may not be all signed and sealed.

Last week, when I spoke to Denzel, he was also considering a remake of Alfred Hitchcock's Strangers on a Train for Warner Bros.

That project would be directed by Antoine Fuqua, director of Training Day, the movie that finally brought Denzel his Oscar.

Of course, Candidate would be directed by the great Jonathan Demme, Denzel's director in Philadelphia.

Hell, has it been long enough to star in a remake of Training Day yet?

It seems hard to envision how one could make a meaningful remake of "The Manchurian Candidate" today.

Of course, the obvious questions is, WHY?

When's he going to do something original? Truth About Charlie didn't hurt enough or something?

There should be a law stating that no other filmmaker should remake a Hitchcock film.

Moviemaker magazine published a list of which types of movies must not be remade. Number 16 on the list stated:
"From now on, Hitchock is off limits. We know The Birds is just beging for an ILM zap-bang makeover, but no. Even if you promise not to use Anne Heche."
I agree. Strangers on a Train must not be remade!

I agree most classic movies should not be remade, because they are already perfect the way they are. How can you make a perfect movie even better? They should concentrate on making new movies. It's not that hard to come up with new stories.

Not only that, but there has never been a successful hitcock remake to my knowledge.

The remake doesn't have to copy the plot point by point. It could just have allegorical similarity. Obviously, communism is no longer a threat today, so they will have to find something else more relevant. I'm sure if they do decide to remake it, they will have found an appropriate threat relevant to today's political climate.

I think Carrot Top would make a great Bruno to Kel Mitchell's Guy.

Terrible.

Someone put the sleeper on jonathon demme. He was once such a great filmmaker. Is there a wrestler in the house?

It's not like they are going to hit the remake jackpot and choose the one that actually works.

STOP WITH THE CRAPPY REMAKES ALREADY.

Finally?!?! Yes, Denzel "Who cares about the script" Washington finally received an Oscar after 13 years since his last one. One of the greatest tragedies ever

Come on, now ... you and I both know he has Halle Berry to thank for both his Oscars. She opened the door so he could have a chance. Makes me teary-eyed just thinking about it.

I'd watch a remake if they changed Guy and Bruno to two hot chicks.

Think of the possibilities......
