The Haunted Mansion starring Eddie Murphy

Does anyone know anything about this movie? is this another Disney movie based on another attraction of theirs? Who is starring in it? Plot etc..? Release date?

Has anyone heard anything about this upcoming movie?

I know that it is based on the Haunted Mansion ride at disney but could not pull anything up on imdb.com. maybe it was cancelled? It was supposed to come out sometime next year.

I saw a poster for it over the weekend, so it looks like the project is still a go.

Disney had the opportunity to make something really great, perhaps cover the backstory of the mansion, or make some kind of urban legand mystery inside disneyland, all with a little humor. But as I understand it, it's going to be an Eddie Murphy star vehicle turd on the level of The Country Bears.

Disney is also making a feature film based on "The Pirates of the Caribbean" attraction. That's my favorite ride in all of Disney World, in case anyone was interested. I hope the movies do both rides justice.

Honk!

Steve Guttengburg was in that movie right? I've never seen it.

Aaron, keep it that way, I doubt you ever want to see it.

Unless you want to waste some of your time that is..

A movie based on a theme park attraction, it's sad that they even considered this. Is there no talent left in Hollywood?

This is what should've been done. There's a story that the ride is based on. It just needs to be fleshed out. A shame...

But wait...didn't Disney already do a Haunted Mansion movie called "the Nightmare Before Christmas"? Oh wait...that's just from September to December.

wow. not a bad preview. most definitely a better first trailer than T3. [and remember how badly that got trashed..]

now that I think about it, perhaps the reverse could be true here. good first trailer = bad movie. bad first trailer = good movie.

anyways, I didn't think it looked bad. the sets looked AWESOME.

Is this based on that Nintendo game about Luigi?

If you cut out Eddie Murphy, this movie doesn't look too bad at all.

Doesn't look horrible. Still don't understand why Eddie Murphy though.

Looks pretty good...and I think Murphy even looks good in it. Yeah.. he's done a bunch of stinkers, but I think it has less to do with his abilities and more to do with the projects he's picked.

O-kay....
I'm not sure what to think about this.
Obviously the effects are pretty cool, and it seems to have a lot of the icons from the ride(s) [I'm assuming, I've only been to WDW]. I guess the plot is a standard haunted house? Murphy and family move into a haunted house, and they
Spoiler:
happen to do whatever it is the spirits need to move on to the afterlife; or it turns out the spirits are pretty cool and they all live happily ever after. I'm not sure where else you could go with a Disney/Eddie Murphy film.

Trailer spoilers ahead:

I'll reserve judgement till I see a little more or find out about the plot. I could deal with
Spoiler:
Eddie's 'Honey, there are....dead people in the backyard.' But the 'Wait till I'm out of the room, before the spirits of the dark' was too typically, well, Eddie, a part of his acting that doesn't personally appeal to me.
We shall see, we shall see. I give it a tentative "doesn't-suck" for now.

I thought maybe effects would be what saved this film.

And now I guess even that won't happen.

There was one cool part of the trailer and I'd even hate to put it in spolier tags. Cause if they read it before seeing the trailer.....the trailer would turn out to be a complete waste of their time.

It went from being a rental later on....to being a movie I might be forced to watch if I visited mentally challenged family members.

Not a bad trailer but Eddie Murphy does seem out of place. I'll still go see it.

They ran this trailer before Pirates and it didn't look half bad. My only problem was I kept thinking back to Murphy's Delirious when he joked about not sticking around a haunted house. Guess a couple box office bombs will make you reconsider.

How the hell did Murphy go from raw and delirious to this?

and I'm a fan of the haunted mansion ride. why not just make a sequel to nightmare before christmas with a haunted mansion link to it?
