Region Free Player? Momitsu, Oppo OR Pioneer Elite

Hi all -just curious what your feelings are towards these brands. I am in the market to replace my broken Philips (hated the remote anyway) and wouldn't mind getting a blu ray that plays everything, but it's not necessary as I already have a PS3.

I know folks swear by Oppo (I've never owned one) but I think both the styles of Oppo and Momitsu don't look very appealing...kinda on the chintzy side. I rarely hear people talk about the Pioneer multi-region capabilities tho and my system set up right now consists of all Pioneer Elite.

Any thoughts are appreciated!

i have an oppo SD player. single best electronic investment of my life. the best upconverting DVD player I ever had. best support I ever had. Cannot speak highly enough about that machine or the company behind it.

Thnx Steve! What was the model # of your Oppo? Will you be updating to a newer model anytime soon?

Anything is very helpful at this point, for some reason I am being very picky about the next one I purchase.

I agree with Steve.

I own the Oppo DV-983H and it´s the best DVD player I have ever come across (various reviews also confirm this statement). The upconversion is simply outstanding. The 983 is no longer available but the DVD capabilities has been ported over to the Oppo BD-83 Blu-ray player.

However, I won´t be buyng the BD-83 simply because image comparrison between the various BD players available are not that significant. Meaning a low-budget BD player delivers just as good an image as the expensive ones, which is why I might as well just buy a Momitsu BD player (or similar) to coinside with my Oppo DV-983 player.

just ordered the oppo bdp-83..far from chintzy..all reviews comment on the solid build
