the only English subbed release with a date set is the American one.

the Korean release, almost certain to suddenly appear before then, will be more expensive.

I guess I'm just going to wait. Both Amazon and Walmart have it for around $15 for the BD.

I've just seen the trailer for Andy Lau and Gong Li's Chinese language remake of the Mel Gibson / Helen Hunt classic What Women Want. Looks like the biggest waste of time ever.

Just ordered Donnie Yen's "Legend of the Fist" on blu-ray. I'll let you all know how it is asap.

Damn, that's more than twice the price and it's release date is only a week before the U.S. BD. I wonder when the HK version is coming out.

Re: What´s HOT in Asian cinema right now?

I was just about to post the update on "man from nowhere", but looks like you fine fellows beat me to it.

I was really wishing the CJ release would come sooner, but oh well. Unless it's packed with extras and has cool packaging, I'll just wait for the domestic release. Can't wait to see this movie, especially after all the word of mouth it's getting.

It'll have cool packaging, but even if there are extras, they'll only be in Korean, so WellGo has my cash for this one.

Can anyone recommend me some movies that are like Battle Royale?
So far I can only think of the Condemned.

Oh yes, I forgot about that movie.
Yea I have that movie as well as the sequel.

Loved it. Also I just remember this other Korean Movie called Death Bell.
Check out the trailer on youtube. Involves high school students getting killed off one by one.

If u love Taken you would have no problem enjoying this one. I loved The Man from Nowhere, esp to see the different side of Won Bin

Yeah, it takes a little bit of Death Wish, The Professional and Taken and other similarly themed movies but it all works well together. The knife fights are brutally graphic and I haven't seen a good knife fight since SPL.

I watched it last week and enjoyed it. Two of my favorite actors in same film made it a must see for me.

Re: What´s HOT in Asian cinema right now?

I watched it 2 nights ago. Extremely violent, simple effective plot, but 20 min. too long. Not much character development but the acting from the two leads makes up for it. As usual the police look like bumbling idiots. Solid film overall but I preferred "The Chaser".

Also watched "71-Into the Fire". I thought it was just ok.

Started off good, but it got a bit more weird and silly than I was expecting. Overall it was alright, but not too special.

Re: What´s HOT in Asian cinema right now?

I liked it. Like most are saying, it's not great, but to me, even a mediocre Donnie Yen movie is decent as long as the action sequences are good. This one was no exception. Lot of similarities with Ip Man in terms of story and even the action.

Saw a feature for this in the new Rue Morgue. Been interested as well in checking it out.

Is there an English-Friendly DVD release yet?

Also is it safe to say that HK has moved on from films like Exiled, Election, Infernal Affairs, etc?

I just watched Dragon Squad again and I miss when the HK Market was saturated with these kind of films a couple years ago. Seems like the new trend lately has been Period Dramas/Martial Arts films.
