DVD is coming out in March. Does anyone know the specs (orignal English or just Czech dub?) or if this slovakian ships to USA?

This film looks wacky awesome!

EDIT UPDATE: according to some Czech sites, i've seen the specs listed as English audio for the Blu Ray, but Czech audio for the DVD...still awaiting definite specs...

Just had a chance to look at this thread in greater detail, and checked out the trailer you linked...count me as very interested in seeing this. Nice work digging this up! Your post is my first time hearing of this film.

Thanks Pro-Bass my savior! How did you find out about the audio? I know the movie is in English, but do you guarantee that the DVD audio will have original audio English?

As much as I like the Anna Freil, where was Asia Argento when they were making this film? It seems like a role created for her.

Flixtime, I didn't know of it either till seeing the DVD listing! Well, I researched the director, Juraj Jakubisko, and it turns out he's one of Czech's most famous directors. I've been researching his films on DVD which all look pretty interesting. A lot of his DVDs have English subtitles as well, but I don't want to spend a fortune ordering them. Like I said earlier, it's probably cheaper to just fly to Prague to pick up the Czech DVDs.

These are the official specs, but I recommend that you wait for a review that confirms them as the official distributor listing isn't necessarily always the correct listing (and this is precisely what I Served The King Of England teaches us).

I have seen the movie. Anticipating great things I was shocked to see a PG comedy

Monks roler skating, para gliding and doing other silly things, Bathory as saint as Mother Theresa and whereas it was an expensive movie for Czech standards ( about 15 mil USD) I wonder where the money went. Same "small" battles with few extras dressed right from central Haloween catalogue in a same battle ( just subtitled as different location) with only a few "bangs".

The only redeaming quality indeed is the performance ( and costuming) of Anna Friel. I was amazed that she could deliver the silly lines with a straight face, and so was her co star Karel Roden.

This movie is a farce in all other aspects. I doubt highly that any distributor after seeing it would take it to US theatres.

Most of the other movies about her ( and I have seen them all) portray her for what she really was: A lesbian sadistic serial killer who killed 100's of girls for kicks. This one makes her a victim of bad rumors.... Sort of TMZ of the 16th century.

Yep it would most definitely be rated R. Several nude scenes, some violence and a lot of blood.

I just saw this movie. Sort of a let-down. As a reviewer said on imdb, the movie just feels like a series of pretty looking pictures pieced together, but it doesn't really flow as a movie. Anna Friel is certainly interesting to watch, but this film is not her best work. I still like her most in Rogue Trader.

I would give it a C or C-.

Bathory is not a good sample of his work. It's interesting to see it out of curiousity (and if you like Anna Friel, as I do), but it's not a good film.

It's anamorphic per ethaicd.com. Here's what they wrote back:
