Good R2 Special Editions?
SO, I've been getting interested in getting some good (and mostly pretty cheap) R2 DVD's from Amazon.uk .
Titles I am interested in are ones that have exclusive special Features. I just ordered The Deer Hunter (2-disk SE) The Last House on the Left (3-disk SE), and Creepshow (2-disk SE) Other titles I will probably get soo nare the special editions of A Life Less ordinary, The Piano, and Dont Look Now. Any other recommendations for titles with exclusive features? How are the R2 editions of O Brother where art thou (2-disk SE) and does Stardust REALLY have an exclusive commentary track? Thanks for the help... |

Yes, the R2 of Stardust has an exclusive commentary track with Matthew Vaughn and co-writer Jane Goldman.
Regarding A Life Less Ordinary, the AR is off on the R2 (1.78:1). It should be 2.35:1, as represented on the non-anamorphic R1. That's the reason I'm still sticking with the US disc for the time being. As for recommendations, I'd suggest Picnic At Hanging Rock (3-disc SE) and The Last Seduction (2-disc SE) are worth a look. |

DVDBeaver and DVD Times are good review sources. Also try DVD-Basen, which has links to several review sites, including the two mentioned above. DVDBeaver has screencaps and comparisons, which are of great help.

Shaun of the Dead - has another commentary track (the zombie cast) which is quite entertaining of itself.
Midnight Movies: From the Margin to the Mainstream has exclusive extras and a commentary track that the region 1 doesnt have. Santa Sangre - commentary track [US: no DVD release] Kwaidan - uncut, longer version of film |
