Re: What Have You Ordered Recently? Part 7

All from Amazon.co.uk:

The Man Without A Past £6.93
Nighthawks £11.03
Strip Jack Naked £11.03
Another Way £6.07
Aki Kaurismäki Collection, The - Vol. 2 £15.63
- Take Care of Your Scarf, Tatiana ( Pidä huivista kiinni, Tatjana ) (1994)
- Drifting Clouds ( Kauas pilvet karkaavat ) (1996)
- Juha (1999)
Aki Kaurismäki Collection, The - Vol. 3 £15.63
- Crime and Punishment ( Rikos ja rangaistus ) (1983)
- Calamari Union (1985)
- Hamlet Goes Business ( Hamlet liikemaailmassa ) (1987)
- Bohemian Life ( Vie de bohème, La ) ( Bohemernas liv ) (1992)
Jean-Luc Godard - Histoire... £18.23
Up The Junction £4.47

Tough to pay almost full price for Nighthawks and Strip Jack Naked, but with both going OOP a couple of months ago, they probably won't be any cheaper. Also disappointed to see the conversion rate is now 1.52, up from 1.45.

And the price has gone down by 4 pounds since I placed my order. Pity Amazon no longer uses price protection.

Nice price on that one. This has been a rumored Criterion forever.

Even though I already own three of the titles, at that price I'm sorely tempted to pull the trigger, despite the apparent ratio/transfer issues.

Mr. Bongo have really improved their discs as of late, and their prices are even cheaper than Second Run.

ooh, good price and unlike the US release it's not the cut R-rated version of the film.

The conversion rate from where? Your credit card company? Is there any way to pay AmazonUK directly in dollars, so that you pay the converted rate without having to pay the surcharge that your credit card company tacks on?

How severely is the US release cut? I've always held off buying it because of the cuts.

actually from what I've read, the US version has the NC-17 rated scenes in the DVD supplementary section. Why Sony released this theatrically uncut "NC-17" and then release the film cut (on home video) is beyond me.

from imdb (adult in content)
Spoiler:

The R-rated US video version removes a moment from the NC-17 theatrical cut where Ewan McGregor's character performs oral sex on Tilda Swinton's character, although the scene is presented whole in the DVD's bonus features.

Re: What Have You Ordered Recently? Part 7

I was feeing a martial arts and asian action urge so I blind bought all of the following (except IO have previously seen Iron Monkey):
Bichunmoo - Warrior Of Virtue (2-disk SE) [2000] £4.32
Zu Warriors From The Magic Mountain [1983] £3.46
Volcano High (Special two-disk edition) [2001] £3.46
Champion (Two-Disk Special Collector's Edition) £3.45
Iron Monkey (Two-Disk Platinum Edition) [1993] £5.19
Full Contact (Special Collector's Edition)[1992] £2.59
Naked Weapon (Special Collector's Edition) (2002) £2.59
Football Factory (Special Edition) [2004] £2.59
Azumi/Azumi 2 - Death Or Love £8.07
Bang Rajan (Two-Disk Special Collector's Edition) £2.59
Initial D - Drift Racer (Two-Disk Special Collector's Edition) [2005] £3.46
Crying Fist (Two-Disk Special Collector's Edition) [2005] £3.46
New Police Story (2-disk SE) [2004] £4.33
Typhoon - 2 Disc Special Collectors Edition [2007] £2.59
Duelist (2-disk SE) [2007] £3.46
Red Wolf (Two-Disk Special Collector's Edition) [1995] £4.32

Total for everything, including s+H (which was over 20% of the total cost) was around $114.18. Hope these are good fun. I only bought titles with lots of special features and notice many titles have Bey Logan commentaries which is also a big plus for me.
