What are the 'Best' 2007 International Releases of the year?
I may be jumping the gun with a month still to go, but I want to know what y'all think have the been the essential new releases of the year so far? My import buying has been pretty low this year and I'd like to add some discs to my video library - thoughts? (any December releases I should be aware of?)

I don't consider Valley of Flowers and Jade Warrior are essential or best releases of 2007.

I really liked the R2 "This is England" as well as the Ken Loach box sets.

Tutut, Pan Nalin is my "Wong Kar Wai" - if any Wong Kar Wai DVD is released, it will be always considered an essential...Jade Warrior I can understand, but come on, it's the first Finnish martial arts film! Not a great film, but they tried!

"This is England" is an excellent choice on R2. I would also add "Amazing Grace" - UK or US. It was a very inspirational movie. I would also have to pass on Valley of Flowers as well as - dare I say it - Sunshine.

I have to toss in votes for Masters of Cinema releases of Diary of a Lost Girl and Le Silence de la mer. "Lost Girl" was the DVD that convinced me to buy a region free player, great movie and a great package. "Le Silence" is a little known great film that I was very happy to see released.

If this list is for just best critically-aclaimed international movies released on dvd, then I gotta change my list. I thought this was just best International DVD releases, including USA/UK movies/shows...
