ezdvd has it up too, but I dont like the sound of 4:3. Having said that, ezydvd muck up many of their listings.

I rarely get preliminary info from Australia but this email came from a person with whom I exchanged some notes after one of my reviews on the board and he has always been spot on!

Already something to look forward to in 2007, then.
As Criterion have L'Eclisse and L'Avventura, I always assumed they would also publish La Notte sooner or later. I guess it's still possible....

An Aussie member from CF took some caps from the new disc and while the above info I posted stands corerct, 1.66:1, the disc is visibly cropped and the image according to the same person is soft...meaning a pass! How is this a restored print I have no idea...
This film remains a great enigma for English speakers...hopefully Criterion finally get to it this year.

it's not anamorphic, but it is proper PAL from what I can tell.
The koch disc was non-anaomrphic and PAL-NTSC so this is a marginal improvement, but I am very disappointed.

Despite of the fact that it is in the proper ratio however, 1.66:1, I also do not like the caps. They do not look solid.

pro-b,
I tried it out last night, definitely non-anamorphic. But, like I said proper PAL.
It's also a better print than the koch disc, less damage. Sharpness is not criterion level but even after adjusting it via tv zoom to fake anamorphicness on my tv, its still solid. 6/10 material.
If you can find it cheap, not bad.
There's a nice audio commentary too and a 55 min Antonioni doco.

Thanks for your informative comments Nitin77. If we don't get any official news (or rumors) addressing a possible Criterion release in the next 4-5 months I would most likely pick it up.
