DDDHouse offers a shipping discount for repeat customers?

I've just started buying from DDDHouse, with great experiences, and I was going through some DDDHouse-related threads on the forums.

What's this shipping discount people are referring to? I thought it was for large orders, but a few posters were calling it a repeat customer discount.

Can anyone tell me about this? I can't seem to find it on their site.

I think it's been eliminated. The repriced their shipping awhile back and it's incorporated into the regular shipping charges.

Was I just sent a used/returned DVD from DDDHouse?

Today, I got Oldboy (Edko release) in the mail and I noticed my copy wasn't shrinkwrapped. It was in a plastic sleeve/pocket like wrapper that seals by folding a flap at the end which has an adhesive on it. I opened it up and the disc was in a paper CD envelope, the kind with a circular "window" on it. I see a few very light scratches on the disc, but nothing to be really concerned about.

Now, I'm not mad or anything. Unless I have problems with the DVD, I won't be contacting DDDHouse about this. I am just curious to find out if this happens a lot, and what it means (i.e. is it a used/returned disc?).

I've also received unsealed DVDs from YesAsia, but they weren't in a CD envelope, which is what seemed odd to me about the DVD that DDDHouse sent me.

there is a chance. theres been talk of dddhouse sending people returns / seconds when they order from the cheap weekly sale. so they dont seem to be beyond doing that sort of thing. alternatively, the disc might have arrived with them and have popped off the spindle, broken free and gotten lightly scratched. either way, they shouldnt pass that off onto customers.

i suggest you simply tell them your not happy and you want a free replacement copy. i wouldnt say theyve done anything specific incase they get angry...!

I don't think I'd anything without an explanation. Even if I were to explain, I think Johnny (that's his name, right?) will just tell me that he doesn't do returns/exchanges unless the disc is defective.

I find it funny though that he didn't try all that hard to hide the fact that it was returned merchandise. I was all when I saw that CD sleeve in the case.

On my last order with dddhouse, I received Crazy N the City and All for the Winner in similar envelopes in unsealed cases. Someone suggested that they were floaters and packaged that way to prevent damage in transit. If you contact Johnny, I'd be curious to hear his response.

Question about DDDHouse.com merchandise

I just received Army of Darkness HK R3 DVD from them and the white area where there usually is a barcode is blank. And the cover art seems kind of undefined, almost like it was printed on a home printer. Did I receive a bootleg?

It should have a hologram MGM sticker on the cover, if it does its no Bootleg. I bought mine a year or two ago and mine was also blank, but I don't have the DVD in front of me, but the hologram should be on the back probably at the bottom.

Unlikely. I've bought 100s of discs from them with no suggestion of that.

I've also bought DVDs from all over the place without barcodes. There is usually some sort of reference number though somewhere or it would be difficult to pick stock.

Same here - and there's never been anything that didn't appear to be completely legit.

I got it recently from DDDHouse.com too. I can assure you that it's not a bootleg. My cover art does not look like it's printed from a home printer. Barcode area is blank. There's a hologram sticker. Keep in mind that the DVD is pressed by Deltamac HK and its packaging are usually not so good as compared to R1. Honestly, I won't care about the case and cover art. The R3 image quality is the best.

You will find many Hong Kong Region 3s that don't have barcodes, particularly the ones with all English covers from the big studios like MGM, Columbia TriStar, etc. My copy of AoD is as described above.

Yeah, what everyone else basically said. DDDHouse is definitely not in the business of selling bootlegs. If you're going to start ordering discs from Asia, be prepared for the occasional bad packaging, and know that things you're used to seeing like barcodes, or other codes on the center of the disc may not be there.

DDDHouse - weird stickers?

A friend just got a big order of mostly HK editions of Korean titles from DDDhouse. What's weird is that there are all these little tiny white stickers on the boxes that seem designed to cover up the word DVD and/or the little DVD symbol.

Anyone know what is up with that?

They don't look like boots, and the customs declaration said "movie dvds" so it doesn't seem like they are trying to avoid some sort of DVD royalty/import-tax or anything along those lines.

How's the service in DDDHouse (Hong Kong)?

Has anyone placed orders in DDDHouse recently?

I placed my first order on May 1st. Before ordering, I emailed them a question but hasn't received any reply. It makes my worry about their service. How long does it take for them to ship the order? Are they reliable?

I've placed over a dozen orders with them and have never had a problem, although they have taken a few days to respond to questions in the past. They have always sent my packages via Registered Mail, which will require you to go to the post office to sign for them unless you happen to be home when they attempt delivery.

Ditto. Though, I've never contacted their customer service for anything .. usually because I'm getting titles at great prices .. so the two weeks before the shipments arrive is an acceptable tradeoff to me.

Count me in as another long time customer of the site. Like visitor Q above me mentioned, I've rarely had to deal with their customer service but the prices are fantastic and I've no hesitation in recommending them to anybody.

I haven't ordered anything from them for awhile now (maybe it's time to take a look and see what's available again ) but I've never had any problems w/ them in the past.
