Great Russian movie on DVD - THE STROLL (PROGULKA)
![]() I just watched this 2003 movie on DVD. Excellent film, especially for a Russian movie. It's like a Russian version of Richard Linklater's BEFORE SUNSET taking place in St. Petersburg, and a bit more thrilling and real. It's a camera shake movie, but it's totally not as distracting or headache-inducing as in ROSETTA and in BOURNE SUPRMEMECY. The movie definitely makes one want to visit St. Petersburg, Russia. The DVD quality is very good - non-anamorphic letterboxed, Russian DD 5.1 and DTS, and excellent (but sort of yellow faded) English subtitles within the video, so it's not a problem if you zoom in the video to fill in your HDTV. There aren't too many extras - just an actor/director biography, and a trailer to BIMMER. You can buy the DVD and check out a clip at http://www.russiandvd.com/store/prod...d=&genresubid= Last edited by toddly6666; 02-16-06 at 08:21 AM. |

Saw this one last year and it was quite enjoyable. Not great, in my opinion. Another example of a film, if it was in English and/or made in America, would not garner such accolades.
