Great Conqueror's Concubine?
Is there any DVD edition of this great film? It stars Gong Li and Ray Lui (Li Liang Wei). Great epic in old China, during warlords era. I can't seem to find it anywhere, not to mention that if it has different video title. help please?

There is a Thakral release, but I am not sure if it is out of print. It's actually a 2 dvd set with the movie divided into Part 1 and 2, just like the LD.

Where to buy it? Or where did you previously buy it? How's the dition? English subtitled? Canton / mandarin? Audio - video quality?

Wow, hold it amigo. I don't think that's the movie I want. Farewell my Concubine is a drama, while the Great Conqueror's Concubine is a war epic!

There are a few releases of "Great Conqueror's Concubine", but just stay away from the Tai Seng version. It's craptacular. I'm not sure if the other releases are still in print, but you could try most asian dvd stores. |

The Thakral release I have was purchased years ago in San Francisco Chinatown. It's has madarin and cantonese track, burn-in sub, and a fairly soft but acceptable picture that looked slightly better than the chinese LD release.
I haven't been paying too much attention about it lately but have not seen it in stores anymore. Perhaps online? |

Now that's more like it! Thanks - I'll out it in my Asian wishlist. BTW, is it just recently added? I never saw it before.

Yesasia just started to carry them but muldoon says they've been around.
Read muldoon's comments from asiandvdguide. And beware that it might not be OAR if the film was originally 2.35. http://adg.invisionzone.com/index.php?showtopic=331 http://adg.invisionzone.com/index.php?showtopic=332 |
