''Sky Captain'' is already on DVD (R5)
I bought it today for 12 bucks. The picture is decent as I jumped through the chapters at random for a quick preview. Haven't seen the whole movie though. This DVD was OFFICIALLY released by CP Digital on 11.11.04.

How do you know? Like I said the picture is decent, not awesome. There are ''cigarette burns'' in the right upper corner of the screen that appear during the film. And I hope the glow from the inside on some objects (faces,hands) was intentional. Well, not all R5 releases are bad, ''Sky Captain'' is the so-called light release. Why wait more than 2 months for what? A commentary track? A better transfer? Or maybe a better plot?

That's kinda weird that the dvd has cigarette burns, since it was all shot on digital... Sure, they then transfered it to film to show in theaters, but why would they use film as the source for an official dvd?

I seriously doubt that Paramount officially licensed this movie for release on home video anywhere in the world yet. Regardless of what the distributor claims, this is a bootleg.

In view of the doubts expressed as to the DVD's provenance, I've emailed Paramount for comment. I'll re-open if they provide the thumbs up.
