from dvddebate
This set (limited to 3000 units) consists of 8 discs, a 100+ page detailed booklet and special deluxe packaging. The current 2 DVD releases of each film make up six of the eight discs. All the extras and audio/video options will be the same. Therefore each film will have an anamorphic widescreen transfer and a Cantonese track in Dolby Digital EX and DTS-ES 6.1 discrete, as well as a Mandarin dub in Dolby Digital 5.1.

I think they just meant to say that each DVD in the set will have the same audio/video options, but not that they are the same as the old releases.

The movies in this new set are all being presented with new transfers, and dts-ES tracks, which were not available on the old releases. So that's a pretty huge difference right there.

and just take a look at the extras provided for the first movie and you can see they are not all the same as the old release.

This set should be a pretty nice step up from the previous releases, in my opinion.

So where is everyone preodering from? Or does it depend on where you live because of shipping...

Layoyo = $74.59 US
KoreanDVD = $82.99 US (ends up more than Detective due to shipping)
Detective = $89.99 US
DVD Asian = $99.00 US

Doesn't the airmail shipping make the layoyo price more than thedvdetective or dvdasian?

I believe it's counted as 15 DU so that makes Airmail $33.30 and Courier 26.90

I ended up buying mine from thedvdetective.

I've nevered order from Layoyo.. just seen others placing their order there so I thought I'd ask. You might be right though -candyrocket786-.

dvdasian seems to have the highest price, but it's FREE shipping in the US for anything over $39. Looks like thedvdetective or dvdasian for US buyers huh?

I would go with thedetective since he's several dollars cheaper than dvdasian.

I wonder what Yesasia will charge for this item?

Since it's a limited release, you can expect them to double the price of everyone else!

I think layoyo is cheaper after shipping because thedetective price does not include shipping.

Not if you are in the US. Layoyo's shipping for that set is over $20, so once you add that, it's not cheaper (if you are in the US, that is).

Just pre-ordered it at hkflix (99.95 shipped).

How many people are actually having their name engraved? I skipped it. I just think it would look a little tacky.

i have preordered this set from sensasian.com but my credit card issuer void the transaction when they learned that the seller is from malaysia. however, after reporting the credibility of the merchant to my credit card company, sensasian cancelled my order. and sent an email stating that i have need to go through the ordering process all over again.

Price change (shipped to Asia):
Before: $89.99
After: $134.44

Whoa!!!

I ordered one for 84 bucks - $79 from www.hivizone.com and they charge $5 shipping to US. You should be able to have your name engraved if you like.
