New Fortune Star Once Upon a Time trilogy

on www.HIVIzone.com there is a pre order for a box set of Jet Li's Once upon a time in China trilogy (remastered). It is being produced by the company fortune star and has Cantonese dts and DD 5.1 tracks. There is also some Wong Fei Hung Documentry, it didn't really comment on any other extra's. I'm fairly sure it is region 0 (hivizone always specifies if dvd's are coded anything other than 0). It is out on July 15th. I pre ordered it for 40 something, shipped speedpost mail (it usually arrives to me in the midwest within 5 days). I hope the packaging is as nifty as the foutune star Bettter Tomorrow and Killer/bullet in the head sets. I'll post comments when I recieve it.

Please do. I'm curious how these compare to the Hong Kong Legends discs.

if it like their other releases, the picture will be better than HKL's.

On AVSForum, someone reported that the English subs will be an old dubtitle. Not sure where their information comes from, though.

Has anyone gotten this yet? Any comparisons to R2 HKL or the R1 Columbia Tristar version?

Just got it in the mail this morning (speedpost is great). I'm really liking this new fortune star packaging. I hope they keep releasing more sets this way.

the picture is the best I've ever seen it. I have the old HK disk (media asia, or whatever), and it is much better than that.

The DTS track is great, but the dialogue sucks. It sounds like it is muffled, and I know it's a new dub. It's not even Jet li's voice. there is an original cantonese track in 2.0, that might be the way to go.

the subtitles are fine. I think they are new, they don't show any subs in the beginning credits during the Wong Fei Hung Song (you know, when they show the group doing the Wu Shu set). It was subtitled in my earlier release.

Anyway, let me know if you have any other questions. I'll try and answer them.

How about subtitles on the 3 documentaries on the set?
Any Chinese or English subtitles there?

i don't think the HK Cantonese track ever featured Jet Li's actual voice. his voice sounds the same as the previous release (not re-recorded.)

any more comparison reviews by anyone who has seen the Korean version, or the Fortune Star?

Thinking about picking up the HKL R2 one, but would like to know thoughts on the other two first.

If it's anything like the Police Story trilogy, it'll be pretty much the same (I think) and you should just go for the cheaper option.
