Why is Magnificent Warriors rated R in the U.S.?
OK, so I have the new region 1 version of Magnificent Warriors, but since it's an HK film I figured the International forum was the best place to put this.
I am very puzzled by the R rating this received from the MPAA. Is it due to a dumb rule about certain martial arts moves drawing an automatic R, or something? Because if you go simply by quantity/intensity of the violence, I would have voted for PG13 if I were on the ratings board. MW is certainly no more violent than Lord of the Rings. Also minimal language and no sexuality.

That's very, very strange. I picked up the region 1 disc too because the sound on my HK version was so awful... but I never thought to check the rating.
I'm pretty much at a loss for why it would be rated R.
