Where to find KAGEMUSHA? - 179 mins, R2, Japan

i've been looking for this disc and cannot find anyone who sells it. this is the R2 Japanese release that is about 20 minutes longer than the R2 UK disc.

there's some info on it here, but i can't find anyone that sells it.

The Fox laserdisc I have is the 159 minute version, so I would assume we would get the same cut on DVD.

Re

Why they dont put ENG. subs on Japanese DVDs.

And howcome there is a 20 min cut that is horroble.
I just dont understand why not release the whole movie especially if it is a DVD and you going to watch that in your own house.

First point. Because in Japan... they speak, and so, read, japanese. They aren't mandated to have english subs. Also, if the same film might be getting a release in an english-speaking country, the english-speaking country's releasing studio (eg Miramax) might put pressure to have the foreign company to remove english subs, so their business isn't threatened.

Second point. Sometimes rights to longer versions are hard to get, and aren't deemed worthy of the trouble to get the deleted material.
