Hard Target R2 question.

Just got this today. Are there any known audio dropouts on the disc? It will happen, then if I rewind it, it's no longer there. I am playing it on a Malata 566. Also, does anyone know of any fixes in the latest firmware upgrade? Thanks in advance.

I assume this is the John Woo film, is this an unrated cut of the film or is it identical to the edited R-rated version?

It is the uncut one. From what I hear, there is another cut that is even more violent, but doubt we will ever see it.

I love this movie! Ive heard the foreign releases are not that much different from the US release, maybe a little more violent here and there.
The "Director's Cut", so to say, is a work print thats been circulated for years. Ive seen it and it is a revelation as to whats different between it and the released version. There are sites that go into alot of detail as to whats different. As for it ever coming here, there have been odder releases and if Windtalkers, which probably made less at the box office than Hard Target and costs 5 times more gets a 3 disc rerelease than anythings possible.

I bought the R4 version, which I understand is the same as the R2.

I am using a Malata N996, and had no problems with my copy.

I might be interested in another region release if it has some of the violence restored that was cut from the US release.

Thanks, autumn. Im a hardcore fan of the film, going through the long 2 hour bootleg on tape I was able to tell everything added so im glad to get any copy available. Is the Japanese directors cut the same as these Region 4 releases talked about?
Thanks.

Henricksen and Vosloo both rock in the movie and this movie, to me, comes closest to the way Woo made 'em in HK than most of the dull, over exaggerrated things he's done recently.

Where did you get the R2J version? cdjapan doesn't show a listing.

I did find an R3 Korean disc that says its anamorphic. Has anyone seen this one?

Sorry for bringing this very old topics ... but now, is there any DVD version out there which is the most complete? I heard that R2 and R4 are non-anamorphic? I must agree among all John Woo's movies in USA, this is the closest to his HK creations... sigh, I'm unsure which version to search..

The Japanese, Korean, and SOME of the R2 editions (eg, UK edition) have the uncut violence. Amazon.uk and amazon japan probably have okay prices. Or Ebay UK for great prices on the UK edition.

Just saw at koreandvds.com and it turns out there are two R3 versions... one from Hong Kong (ERA) and one from Korea. Which one has the uncut violence?

koreandvds.com show both the time of these DVD's.

Korean DVD is labeled 101 mins; Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85:1 NTSC; Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround.

Hong Kong is 96 mins; Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85:1 NTSC; Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround.

Going by the website it seems the Korean DVD is the one.

Specs on boxes in Korea mean absolutly nothing, you cannot go by them at all, unless someone has it in there hands and can confirm its uncut and anamorhic dont go near it.

As far as I am aware the Korean is not anamorphic and acctually cut, but many many people have lied and spread soo many rumors in the past its hard to beleve a word!

I just went for the R2 UK version for the 100% uncut film and non anamorphic picture and as far as I know there is no anamorphic uncut version, unless anyone here has a copy?

I rented this version and it was uncut. Can't remember if it was anamorphic.

Unless anyone has them its hard to say, as soo many sites just have totally wrong specs up and basically lie and pass down wrong info to us lot

I have bought many dvds with totally wrong specs over the years, many from asia.

As candyrocket786 points out above, that version is anamorphic. And yes, I have seen it so I can confirm it.

Sometimes the studios/suppliers provide incorrect info to various e-tailers.
