As long as this thread's been revived, for the moment, would anyone like to offer comments on any of the titles they've seen from any of those many recent batches of Shaw DVDs?
The only ones I've seen recently are LOVE ETERNE, which was quite pleasant, beautiful to look at, and even lovely in spots, but not quite the masterpiece I was expecting... especially after having been knocked out by that other hungmai opera, and supposedly "lesser" classic, THE KINGDOM AND THE BEAUTY.
On a completely different note, I also caught up with OILY MANIAC, one of the most wonderfully cheesy and so-ridiculously-bad-it's-good horror flicks I've seen in some time. The rubber-suited monster in this beaut just has to be seen to be believed....
So, anybody else? The Shaws I'm particularly curious about at the moment are TORRENT OF DESIRE, THE DELINQUENT, SIAMESE TWINS and HEAVEN AND HELL.

Disciples of the 36th Chamber was pretty good at least towards the end which had a big ass fight scene. Still prefer the original but well worth the money. I wanna check out Super Infra Man as well as Oily Maniac. Both look like cheesy fun.

And if anyone else wants a Heroic Grace Program. I think I still have one or two laying around. Drop me a line..

I'm wondering if scrooge7 got his signed by Cheng Pei Pei? And I'm glad to see that the Heroic Grace film series is making its way around the country.

Looks like there is a semi schedule up. Not sure how accurate it is:

I can only think that maybe because it was a small program, especially since the site listed screening all of these films:

Come Drink with Me (1966; directed by King Hu)
One-Armed Swordsman (1967; directed by Zhang Che)
Golden Swallow (1968; directed by Zhang Che)
Vengeance! (1970; directed by Zhang Che)
Intimate Confessions of a Chinese Courtesan (1972; directed by Chu Yuan)
Blood Brothers (1973; directed by Zhang Che)
The 36th Chamber of Shaolin (1978; directed by Lau Kar-leung)
Return to the 36th Chamber (1980; directed by Lau Kar-leung)

And if people want to read the program:

Hi

I was wondering if anyone has heard of a 1963 movie starring Xia Meng called "Between vengeance and Love" or "Xue Di Qing chou" ?

And also the 1972 TV series starring Ivy Ling po "qi shi fu qi" or Seven Lives Becoming a Couple?

According to IMDB, that film was a Great Wall production, not a Shaw production. In all my massive collection of Hong Kong films, I only have one from Great Wall: THE JADE BOW (1966, aka YUN HAI YU GONG YUAN). I picked it up on VHS many years ago at a long-gone Chinatown video rental outlet in Manhattan. I remember having to pay $25 for it! But it's a beautiful movie and I'm glad I got it. The place closed not long after that so I was never able to go back and discover other little-known HK films from that era.
