Is PAL better than NTSC?
Assuming you have a high resolution player like an HTPC or a super-modified DVD standalone unit - is it common for the PAL releases to have a better picture quality than the equivalent NTSC releases? Can anyone name a few where the NTSC is pretty good, but the PAL is *noticeably* higher quality? Don't worry about sound issues, I'm talking resolution and colors.

Hi there
my humble opinion is: both PAL & NTSC stink. They weren't created thinkin' of high quality, as a fact both are unable to stand the test of what we call high fidelity and it makes no difference if you're talkin' about music or images. mdm67 |

...yup!... finally someone dares to speak up and tell the TRUTH!... both NTSC and PAL are indeed lousy, image-wise and sound-wise... we should ignore them - and (shudder!) VHS and those big, heavy LDs and those damn DVDs ... and while we're at it let's all throw out our TV sets, plasma screens and sundry HT equipment, too!... let's get rid of all that junk - and read good BOOKS instead!

Thanks guys, real helpful. As for the sound issues, they really aren't a problem given players like WinDVD with its "PAL Truspeed" option.
