Bichunmoo HKL 2 disc SE R2 - WOW...

Okay, I'll have to get more in depth later and do a full review...but I'm sitting here now watching the new Hong Kong Legends SE of Bichunmoo, and I'm just so happy with it...

I liked this movie a lot for stylistic reasons, and because it bore certain resemblences to Samurai Showdown (arcade game) in some of the fight scenes, plus it's just fun.

Anyways, all I had to see before was the 4:3 HK disc from Deltamac, and it was alright to get a sense of the movie, but it was lacking at points, pixelated here and there, and sometimes missing subs.

Well, I'm happy to say that the HKL disc, 16x9 enhanced, finally did this film justice. (although, I've never seen the R3 Korean 2 disc, but from what I've read, the HKL disc has a good deal of what was on that...) The subtitles are much better, the picture quality is solid, and the DD track is fantastic, as is the DTS, which is much better than the one on the R0 disc.

So, did anyone else pick this up? I still have to get to the disc of extras...

Where'd you pick this up and how much was it? I've been thinking of ordering it direct from HKL.

I ordered it direct from the HKL site. I have found them quick and reasonable. I understand Benson's has it too...

So how is this movie? I've read that it was edited before release and is slightly confusing. I think there's even a name change for a character.

Well, if I said I was watching it, I'd assume so...

Anyways, sorry I haven't responded, I just haven't looked at the int forum the past few days.

The movie is pretty good, but it's not some award winner, ya know? I appreciate the style and the fighting, as the story is kind of convoluted. Dare I say it may be an acquired taste...if you do a search, the movie has been discussed around this forum before.

Very good movie. I enjoyed it a lot. I have the 2-disc set. I originally watched this movie on my Playstation 2 with the RegionX device...I should watch it on my all-region DVD player, now that I have one :-).

What aspect ratio is this film? I only got to rent the full-screen Deltamac disc and I didn't realize that it should have been in widescreen unfortunately...

I agree. I liked it too but I'd like to see a longer cut. As it is, this film is an editing mess. Cuts at odd places, characters appearing out of nowhere, etc...
