Is Region 4 (Australia) PAL or NTSC?
I just found a R4 DVD I must own, but I don't want to deal with converting PAL to NTSC. Someone please make me happy. Is region 4 PAL or NTSC?

DAMN! It's Jackie Brown. Rumored to come out every fall on R1, but never announced.

I couldn't live without a lot of DVDs that aren't available in R1 so I had to make the change to a multi-code setup. I now happily own the Buffy Seasons 1 & 2 Boxes on R4 DVD among a few other gems.

I just bought the R4 "Jackie Brown" last week. Quality is fantastic! Since I never saw the movie, really enjoyed it. I got tired of waiting for US to release titles... that should be anamorphic & titles still not released in US. So last May I bought my "Denon 2800". I've bought about 50 titles from R4 & R2 and all... put the R1's to shame, quality wise, etc. There's a new DVD player "Malata" that does it all... for only $330.00. Kind of wish I waited, as I paid tons more :-( Just one more thing, R4 DVDs are much cheaper then US DVDs. Jackie cost me $14.94, postage included. |

...AFAIK only the USA and Possessions, Canada and Japan use NTSC... most of the rest of the world uses one or another variant of PAL...

Region 3 (Southeast Asia -- Hongkong, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines) uses NTSC as well.

R4 Australia has had a few releases in NTSC and Warners Australia are about to release more titles here in NTSC...

Just a quick info.
I have a Trinorm TV set (Pal-M/Pal-N/NTSC) and an all-area DVD player. When I tried a pal title on it, the image came out in black and white. But when I hooked the DVD on the component video output, the image was very colorful. |

anali: ...you're right! I forgot about those (pretty dumb of me, actually, since I own quite a few R0 and R3 DVDs from Hong Kong, all of which are NTSC...)
