Croupier DVD?
Does anyone know what the deal is with the Croupier DVDs selling on eBay? They claim that they're region 1, full-screen (ick), 2.0 Dolby, and practically featureless. Personally, I smell a bootleg.
Has anyone checked this out to verify?

actually - that sounds quite legit. If it were a bootleg it wouldn't be Region 1, that's almost a given. 4:3 Fullscreen, No Extras, Region 1, that sounds about accurate - not sure which edition Amazon.com is selling but they do have a version for sale there (marked IMPORT that is R1).

nope, it's not a bootleg, but a legit region 1 canadian release. i picked mine up at absound (www.absound.ca) for $17 a few weeks back. a very nice transfer by the way, but off the top of my head, i'm not sure what it contains in the way of extras (if any). if my memory serve me correctly, this is due to be released in the usa at the end of the month. i also don't think that it's even available on dvd in the uk, which is strange... anyway, it's a great film. pick it up if you can!

DVD Talk Platinum Edition
It has been stated (rumored) that the version that will be released in the United States will be widescreen and anamorphic AND will include a director's commentary as one of its extras. I guess only time will tell...I'd avoid the Canadian version since it is full screen and a much better version is coming. (I hope.)
(As a matter of fact, the version which I rented from Netflix was widescreen, but it contained no extras)
