I just signed up last month and I have a MasterCard. I hope it does allow for more theaters, because right now the theater I'd most like to use it at isn't listed as "participating" even though other theaters in the same chain are. The woman I spoke to about it (I was at the theater before I realized they weren't participating) said it was either because they actively chose not to participate or because they don't accept Discover. I find either one to be strange though when other theaters from the same chain are in the program though, but who knows, maybe some locations accept Discover and others don't.

We stopped our subscription partially because of the 24 hour rule but also because we just didn't use it that much. Had it for well over a year, too.

I bought just under $100 worth of tickets in my first month in the program (paying $28 per month). Usually bought two tickets at a time too (would run up there an check in for a $10 evening show, and instead buy 2 $5 early morning tickets for a different day).

So anyone here still using this? I haven't gotten an email about it myself, but they've got a new CEO and apparently they are jacking prices way up for a lot of people starting next month. Here's the two different plan options a guy I talked to on another forum got:

Premium Plan - $99 / month for a movie a day of 2D, 3D and larger format

Standard Plan - $50 / month for up to (6) 2D and 3D movies

The guy I spoke to contacted them and they said they were doing a slow roll out of the price changes, so we should all be getting an email about it soon enough.

I also read that on a forum. I'm currently paying $35 a month (was $28 up until last month, I got in a year ago at a promo 20% off rate). I'd keep it at $35, but the day I get that email is the day that I would cancel the service.

The standard plan is a joke. I can go to the local Cinemark during the week and pay 8 dollars for a movie. x6 is 48 dollars without any hassle. Less than what they are going to charge. I suppose if you only watched 3D movies you could save a couple bucks.

I still use it. Most months I end up saving a little money, maybe every 8th month I'm down a couple bucks, and every third month I am able to use the hell out of it.

Agreed, there is no way at all I will pay that, either the "premium" or the standard. Nice ride while it lasted, sell your Moviepass stock now if that pricing rolls out widely.
For 99/month, I might as well get cable.

I was worried when I received the email announcing a new CEO.

I use it probably more than most at 8-10 movies a month, but many of those I do not need to see. I only do because I have the free time and the pass. With a large increase, I would not see the need to see many of the movies I do.

Yeah, I'll have to drop it too. Maybe at $50 a month for unlimited I'd consider keeping it, but $50 for 6 movies isn't a deal for me. I mostly go earlier in the day and the Cinemark I go to has early bird tickets for like $6, and the Stone Theater around the corner from my house shows every movie before 1 for even less than that. The most expensive around here is the Regal, that's up to $8.74, but even still at $50 for 6 movies at that theater I'm saving barely over $2.

I still haven't heard anything about mine. It renews in 2 days, so maybe I'll get the email near the beginning of August.

Finally received the email with the above plan. Needless to say, but I will be canceling when my membership renews at the end of the month.

It's been fun, but I will miss seeing some movies that I would not have tried if not for the moviepass.

Haven't gotten my email yet, mine renews on the 18th. I think if and when I get the email, I will be compelled to see as many movies as I can before the change of plans and then cancel.

Yeah, if that's true then I'm out. And probably many other users. The 24 hour clock was dumb enough. But this new development (if true, and it looks likely) is on another level. Fuck that.

My Cinemark is $4.50 until 6pm for a regular movie. $50 for 6 movies is insane. Always thought MoviePass was an interesting option. Not anymore.

in NYC movie tickets are $16. There are some places here where it's still $13 or $14 but AMC and Regal are $15-$16.50. AMC before noon is $8. The Manhattan Regals don't have any matinee pricing at all. MoviePass has saved me hundreds of dollars. I was paying $45/month, up from $35 last year. I got the email with a choice between $99 or $40. For me even the $40 for six movies is a good deal. I'll have to use that and supplement it with AMC and Regal passes I've accumulated over the years (was able to buy 6 of them per month for about $7 each but can't get them at that price anymore). Funny thing though - my wife doesn't use her moviepass nearly as much as I do. She hasn't gotten any email yet.

I was billed yesterday, and actually I was only billed 30 instead of the 35 I had been expecting. I was on a 20% off deal for a year and paying 28 when the rate for my area is supposed to be 35. I'm cool do go in for another month at 30 under the old rules.

For a while I was able to check in up to a few hours earlier than my previous check-in. With the most recent app upgrade though, I can't check in until the exact minute of my last check-in the previous day.

I just saw Lights Out, then went right back out and checked in and bought a ticket to Star Trek with no problems. I'm still only paying 30 a month. It's weird how different the rules and prices are for everyone right now.

I know I'm likely jinxing myself, but my month ends in less than a week and I still haven't gotten any notice about the change. Don't they have to give you a month notice?

I just noticed that my 24 hr clock is gone- checked into a movie at 7:30 last night, everything is available to me today.

I got an email saying my sub is going up to 39.99 on my next bill date. It's currently 29.99. Have to really consider if I'm going to continue.
