Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)
The card only scans once. I had an issue where I bought two tickets, one with moviepass and with another coupon, and they did the coupon wrong so they had to restart the transaction - so the Moviepass wouldn't go through again. I don't think it went through at all, not even for the delta between Moviepass and ticket price.
I would not try it at the concession. However, I do have one theatre that occasionally sells tickets from the concession stand instead of the ticket booth, and I got a ticket and popcorn and it did go through (both together were less than what MP puts on the card.)
I see offers for free screenings but they're never a time I can make it. I will probably keep MP for at least a few months past the contract, into the holiday movie season, then see how it goes.

I go to free movie screenings as well, but then I just use that movie's "ticket" for MoviePass on a movie I want to see more than once, or give the ticket to someone else. Plus doing so will still rack up rewards with my AMC and Regal membership.
And yeah I won't mess with the concessions.

Well the thing with that is, that would be two separate charges. Not sure how their back end works, or even if they allow two swipes but I doubt it.

Yeah, you definitely can't do 2 charges in one day.
BTW, the Carmike by me always sells tickets at the concession stand. Other than the weekends, they only sell at the concession stands.
I was also told there, that all of their tickets are $5.50 between 4-5:30, with a $3.25 extra charge for 3D. So, you can check into a later movie, and then go to a Superbargain time 3D with nothing extra added to the card.

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)
I see people posting about screenings. What is everyone's experience with them like? I gave up after the two I went to last year which turned out disastrous (maybe it's just that I live in NYC though).
Showed up to a Looper screening two days before it was going to be released. Got to the 50 minutes before the screening was scheduled to start and I kid you not there were already at least 300 people in line ahead of me. Needless to say I didn't get in.
Now I just stick with my MoviePass. Not worth the hassle and time to save a few bucks.

I really enjoy them for the most part because you get to see the movie with a full audience, so you get the true theatrical reaction and experience. Plus they take cell phones at the door, so it's like old times. Only thing is that you have to get there early for a good seat.

I can't believe you sat through Superman 3 times. That's too much, too close together.

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)
I assume you live in either LA or NY. How did you get invited to screenings with celebrities? Do you work in the industry? When I lived in LA, I went to screenings all the time, sometimes 6 months before the films came out, but never with a celebrity, except for the red carpet premiere of The Royal Tenenbaums. That was awesome. I'm on the internet in pics with Gwyneth Paltrow. And man, did I have the hots for her!

^ Ah, OK. That explains it. Yeah, screenings are easy to come by in LA. I do miss that... I probably would not renew Moviepass, if I were you...

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)
I go to some screenings here and there. But am loving my moviepass. Saves me money and makes it easy to say well I go check something out. My best month was 13 movies but am always at least at 7 since I have been tracking. Hoping to continue as long as possible.

So just to clarify, you can't buy tickets online whatsoever? and the max ticket allowed is $13?

right you can't buy tickets online. for the max ticket is depends on the showtime. if u want to purchase 3d or imax just buy the latest showtime not the current.

They now have online chat! I got a new phone and it said it was registered already and to log from my original device and I logged on to try to fix it, chatted, and it was fixed within 5 minutes

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)
I wonder what % of customers they make money from in terms of people not seeing enough movies to cover the monthly fee? For me, if I watch more than 2 movies a month, it covers the cost (and even in slow months for me I watch 2-3, these days it's like 6-8 a month). I realize they make money through other avenues though.

^ I was wondering that same thing. I still go to 3 movies each WEEK, except for when I went on vacation, so I highly doubt they are making much money off of me. The app works almost always now. I had to call once in the last month, when the app said "purchase your ticket" almost immediately. It never added the funds to the card. So they had to manually check me in again for the same movie. Otherwise, the GPS is accurate now, and everything goes smoothly.
I must admit, because I see more movies in theaters than I used to, I now buy less movies. So that's a nice side effect.

My Location on the app is messed up. If I use current location, it will display the city name, but it will pick theaters in a different state. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling then had to call because it said my account was active on another device. I mentioned the location problem and she said they're aware of that, it happened with the last release. They are planning on putting a fix out, but until then you can use the zipcode. I said, I don't always know the zipcode I'm in. But, what I found out now, is if I manually put in my location as city and state, it picks the nearby theaters. Or, if I do know the zip it works too.
The other problem I have now, is if it does not go to purchase on the first try, and I get the almost there, I have to close the app and start over again (including manually putting in my location again) because I can't do anything after almost there comes up except close it.
I probably see 3-6 movies a week. I have a unique work schedule, 40 hr in 3 days, so normally I'm off 4 days a week. I'll stop by the theater on days I work and get tickets for a Monday and see 2 or 3 in one day.
