I bring in diet soda from home. 40 movies, not one concession purchase (mostly because of the calories).

You could buy diet soda at the theater, so don't say it's mostly because of calories. It's because of the ridiculous prices.

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

I'll get a popcorn every now and then, either on discount night or with a coupon for a free one. I used to think it was part of the experience for me, and it still is, but damn, that can be a lot of popcorn. I usually get a large because of the free refill, even if I don't eat it, I bring it home and it's usually decent for a day or two. Last few times though I have just gotten the small.
That said, next weekend, 1/18-1/20, is Popcorn Days at Carmike Theatres. For 19.00 you can get their 2013 bucket and a large drink; bucket refills are 1.00 on those same days. Throughout the rest of the year bring the bucket and it gets filled for 3.50. It looks like a pretty big bucket, so if you're doing popcorn, even though the bucket's regular price is 18.50, one fill a week will 'save' you a decent bit of money.

I don't get a drink unless I have a coupon, I try not to drink soft drinks very often.

I had the opposite situation - either they're generous or my GPS is really good/bad, I have been able to check in from a half mile away.

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

Cinemark has a similar promo .. They had a popcorn bucket and a drink for $12, then after that the refills are $3 each (good all year). Not too bad when I go alone - just enough for me.

If you go to the filmspotting website you can get in on this now (www.filmspotting.net) and not wait for the public invite.

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

^ I don't think anyone has been waiting for the public invite. We all have invites available to offer people, and have been giving them away in this thread. I still have a bunch left, as I'm sure everyone else does as well.

I'm still continuing my quest to buy 31 tickets this month. I consider it a challenge, just to see if I can do it. So far, I'm 14 for 14. 17 more days to go... Seen 11 movies so far... Treated others 3 times with advance tix...

The $20 promo supposedly expired. It said it was for 48 hours only. Of course, I suppose it doesn't hurt to try. As for your "account", if you mean you had an invite, signed up on their website, but you never completely signed up for service, your invite likely expired. They are only valid for a limited time. You will likely need to sign up with a new email address now. This happened to me. I contacted Moviepass support, and they said I couldn't use that email address anymore since the invite had expired.

EDIT: If "oscars" expired, I found some posted elsewhere which may work:
CinemaJaw - $15 off
Skiptheline - $5 off each of the first 3 months
belatedmedia - $10 off
theflickpick - $10 off
valentine - $10 off

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

I just signed up (got $15 off the first month). Now I'm planning February-April at the AFI Silver.

Edit: Also I have invites if people are interested, PM me if you want one.

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

So far I'm loving Moviepass. I have purchased tickets 25 days so far this month (only missed 1 day). Obviously I'm gonna hit a road-block soon, since I will run out of movies to buy tickets for other than new releases each week. But until then, I'll enjoy the free ride...

That is a lot of movies. I saw 6 my first two months and 9 my third - which even though it's not as many as some you guys is still a phenomenal value.

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

Despite my comments from a couple of months ago, I changed my tune and I have signed up and tried using it tonight. I had some issues which have been cleared up and what I've learned is that an Android App is now available.

Ooh, I did not know this! Their website still doesn't mention it, and still refers Android users to the website. I installed it just now. Using the website wasn't a big deal, but I like the app better, and it is MUCH faster to navigate. It's also good to have two options, in case one isn't working...

I don't think you will regret signing up. It is well worth the money. After buying tickets almost every day for my first month, I'm now all caught up. So it's just the new releases that come out each week, plus some titles at the Budget theaters in town. So I'll be seeing about 4 movies a week. That works for me.

Funny enough, last night I couldn't get the site to work right and tonight the app wouldn't work. Well, more frustrating than funny and I hope something gets fixed. The GPS is turned on on my phone and no other app has any trouble locating where I'm at, but last night the site wasn't working right and tonight the app kept telling me that I wasn't close enough as I was standing in line to buy tickets at the theater.

It won't let me use the browser anymore. It tells me I have to use the app now.

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

It messed up one day and they owe me $11.50. Still waiting on that, but other than that, everything has been smooth. Sucks that the website is just an empty vessel for the fucking app. You'd think they could have an interface where I can see what I've been watching on a larger screen.

Not that I'm glad you guys are having issues, but it's nice to know that it isn't just me or my phone.

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

The Android app appears to have screwed up the whole system. I actually didn't mind using the browser before, but now it won't even let me use it (I get "We've detected a different device. Please login using the MoviePass app on your original device.") I had to call them the last 2 movies I saw. Thankfully I wasn't on hold long. But I really hope they fix this soon, since I have low minutes on my cell account, and finding a payphone near the theater isn't easy.

I've hardly been using mine lately. I mean I make sure I hit the movies at least once a week, but that just breaks me even.

Not a lot of time with work and school.

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

I got them to unlock the device associated with my account. Meaning, I can use the browser again. It is no longer associated with the terrible Android app. Dunno if anyone else had issues, but I could not successfully check in EVER using that app. It always said "almost there". I'm happy to go back to the browser. It worked fine for me...

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

Knock wood, I've been able to use the website on my Android phone. From what I've heard, the app isn't that great, and doesn't add much value.
I think I've seen a little bit over 30 movies in three months, so that's down to a little more than 3 bucks a movie. Granted, a couple of them were at the 2.00 theater which was sort of silly, but a couple were prime time new releases, and I've earned free tix, popcorn, and drinks from the theater frequent viewer program.

Re: MoviePass Beta Invite (Unlimited Movies in Theater)

I'm on iPhone 4s, and ever since the last app update it is taking me 3 times or more to check in now. I almost immediately get the Almost there, now it makes me wait 1 minute before trying again. So I keep trying this cycle until it finally says Purchase your ticket. I've tried inside and out.
It's happening at 2 of the main theaters I use (different chains). One of them is in a mall, and I've tried using their wi-fi but I have the same results there too.
When it goes over 3 tries, I try sign out/in, close/open just because I have to wait 1 minute.
