Yamaha DVD-S1800 $79.99 at Amazon

You'll have to search Amazon for this one, I don't have the requisite post count to let me link a web site. Considering it started out at $449 a couple years ago this is a very good deal.

This is a really great bargain on a very good quality universal SACD player (if you still need one). It has Faroudja DCDi, Burr Brown DACS, a very sturdy construction and a great upscaled image for SD-DVDs.

I bought one a few weeks ago and it has the best image quality of an DVD player I've owned (which has included a Pioneer Elite DV-49AV and Oppo DV-981HD). The audio is great as well, very distinct, yet warm sound. I have a run-of-the-mill Blu-Ray player (Toshiba BDX2000) and the Yamaha is much better at upscaling, so the BR player will never see another DVD in its tray.

Thanks for the heads up. How is it with playing audio CDs?

Sorry guys, I've never played anything but region 1 DVDs in it.

I got one of these for the same price during the Black Friday deals at Amazon. Everything about it is great, except it has no eject button for the tray. You have to physically press it on the machine.

Try pressing and holding the Stop button.

Hmm. This is tempting. I really want a second SACD player and don't want to spend a fortune.
Edit: Nevermind. I keep forgetting my new Onkyo 607 dropped off analog inputs. PS3 is my only option since it outputs SACD over HDMI.

I picked up one of these babies as a birthday gift for my brother. I liked it so much that I had to have one for myself. Beautiful player for the price of a pair of sneakers. Thanks for the info, jeffredo.

I ended up picking one of these up yesterday during Amazon’s lightning deal (Same price though - $79.99)

Does anyone know if it has the resume feature? Like if you eject the DVD and then go back later to watch it again and it starts at the same place you last stopped it?

Haven't received mine yet, as I ordered one yesteday also, but it appears that the player does have the resume option for DVDs, but I've read that it does not work for SACDs.

Unfortunately it doesn’t have the resume feature once you eject the disc. Other than that, it seems to be a solid DVD player

Also, did anyone ever figure out how to open the tray with the remote? Holding the stop button doesn’t work.

Re: Yamaha DVD-S1800 $79.99 at Amazon

I brought one from Amazon's Warehouse Deals for $65.99 back in late Feb. Gave that to my brother. Read that it could be made region free. I brought another one about a month later once again from Amazon's Warehouse Deals for $61.99. They had about 6 of these listed at that price. Must of been returned models. They looked like brand new units to me when they came. Of course the boxes had been open before. I went back to pick up a 3rd one for a friend about a week later and they were all gone. I missed the lightning deal a few days ago.
