Re: Suicide Squad - December 13

I'll rent this one from the library and check it out first. If I enjoy it, I'll pick it up once it hits $10 or less.

I still regret picking up BvS in 3D, even though it was only $20. The regular cut is a mess, and that's the only version available to watch in 3D.

I used a GC and got the Digibook from Target. It's quite nice.

I didn't love this movie, and I agree so much of the writing is atrocious, but I really dug the style and cinematography and characters and it was much more fun than expected... which makes the bad writing even more upsetting.

Based on my feelings about the film, -and reviews of the extended cut. - I should wait and pick up a cheap copy down the road, but I really like the Target packaging.

It comes with both a Blu-ray disc and a UHD BD. I guess Best Buy figured it'd be easier to combine 'em into one SKU.

They did the same thing with exclusive Steelbooks for Jason Bourne (and the catalog release of Labyrinth) and will be doing it again for Magnificent Seven. That's one way to push up UHD disc sales, I suppose.

Re: Suicide Squad - December 13

Not at 35 bucks it's not. Geez. Well I wasn't a huge fan of the movie anyway, but no way I'm spending that much for something that has a disc I can't play and doesn't come with a DVD to boot. It means I can wait for a deal I guess.

Wait I just read that the 4K steelbook only comes with 2 disks, theatrical on 4K and extended on Blu. So you miss out on theatrical on Blu and the DVD.

That does suck, though I guess you get theatrical on the Digital HD copy.

Don't understand why every new Warner Bros new release are so expensive and priced at $24.99 during the first week of release.

$14.99 or maybe $19.99 would be better.

Re: Suicide Squad - December 13

I was heavily debating whether to pick this up or not this week.

If I don't get it for Christmas from someone, I might just hold out for awhile longer. Batman vs. Superman quickly dropped to $15 or less within a few months. It was under $10 this Holiday for a bit.

I already saw it in the theater, so I am in absolutely no rush to see it again, let alone spend $25 on it.

The regular edition is currently 9.99 at multiple vendors. I guess they realized this is the only way they'll move some copies of it.

Got it for 41 cents (tax) using my Best Buy coupon. But to be fair, several other discs from the same period are being marked down to that price.

Re: Suicide Squad - December 13

I got it for Christmas from a friend. So I didn't have to shell out the first week $25 price.

But I would have gladly picked it up for $9.99.

I have to learn to be patient with many of these big studio movies. If I've seen it and liked it, I should wait and save some significant money.

Re: Suicide Squad - December 13

I had this in my hand at Target tonight and almost bought it since it's $10 this week but couldn't bring myself to make the purchase. Maybe if it goes under $10 around Black Friday I'll get it.

Sounds like you really don't want to own it. Which is fine. But, I don't think it's going to be that much cheaper. I believe Batman v Superman sold for around $9.99 this past Black Friday. Is $1 or so less really going to make that much of a difference?

Re: Suicide Squad - December 13

I wouldn't mind it to rewatch a handful of scenes again and maybe the extra features. Honestly I don't necessarily need to own it but if I can get it on sale or used a bit cheaper (like $5 or $6) I'd grab it. Granted $10 isn't a ton but I just didn't feel the urge to purchase it and its more on the principle of not loving it than cost. Part of it is just the completionist in me who wants it just because there are some things I liked in it (the Batman scenes and I liked Deadshot, Amanda Waller, and to an extent Harley) but overall I was pretty meh on the film as a whole.
