Thanks a lot! That's like tellin' a dude who's hacking up phlegm while he's smokin' a cigarette that it brings a smile to your face that you never started the habit. Thanks...just thanks!

Not sure where this $8-10 more for the steelbook is coming from. In this case, the difference between the normal 3D version and the steelbook is $5. And in the past, they have actually been the same price as the equivalent normal version. I admit paying $5 extra isn't for everybody, but given they almost always sell out, I'm obviously not alone in thinking it's worth

It's because the 3D steelbook versions were always $19.99. I think GOTG was the last one at that price. Then they started to sneak up in price. Ultron was $24.99 and then Ant Man was $27.99. Now this one is $27.99. I wouldn't be surprised if we get one or two more for that price and then they go up to $30.

I'm guessing the Doctor Strange steelbook will be $29.99 next March or April.

But all that is also true for the normal 3D and normal 3D versions. And what it worse is we all know there are very few price drops over time for Disney released BD's. And when they happen, they happen many years after the fact.

I pick up the steelbook at my Best Buy today, still some copies left on the shelves. Thought it would have sold out so kind of surprised.

Sold out online. Yet another one quickly disappears. But there are still plenty of Star Wars steelbooks on the shelves.

Yeah, the Marvel ones seem to be popular and less abundantly available after release day. I frankly love the Marvel ones as of late. Guardians, Ant-Man, just stellar...

We watched the 3D version tonight and wasn't that impressed. Didn't really pop like Winter Soldier did. Still a fantastic movie though.

Kind of wish the Target exclusive content was available on the regular release. I picked up mine from Amazon but wouldn't have minded having the Thor short. Ah well I guess it's not on an actual disc.

Re: Captain America Civil War - 9/13/16

I've got some of those Target exclusive shorts on Disney movies, and they are a nice bonus when they are the best option for no additional cost.

But the reality is that Target stuff always makes it out there beyond the DMA site. And since it's not on the disc, you're not really losing anything by not getting it from Target.

Yeah, since that clip is already on You Tube, it's really no loss since it wouldn't be on the disc anyways.

Mike, out of curiosity, why didn't you go with the Target version if you didn't go with the steelbook? They were offering a $5 gift card, so it should have been just about the same price as Amazon, if not cheaper.

Re: Captain America Civil War - 9/13/16

Called Target earlier today, asked if they had the 3D+2D+DHD Collector's Edition (w/slipcover), asked how much ($24.99), asked if they price-matched (guy said they did), went to the store, they didn't want to price-match because of the "Target Exclusive" crap, whined until they did, had a $10 gift card, ended up getting it for $12.99 + tax. Glad I got it, a matched set with Winter Soldier (but not First Avenger ~ BD+DVD+DC, no slip).

I tried going with Target but I couldn't figure out how to do the in-store pickup option for some reason and with shipping it wasn't a savings.

Re: Captain America Civil War - 9/13/16

Yeah, they don't allow for in store pickup on preorders. That is a nice perk for RedCard. The free shipping and the extra 30 days really helps alot. Especially since electronics shorted their return period from 90 days to 30 days a couple years ago. Having 60 days is nice.

Yeah I'd like to get a RedCard eventually. Waiting for something that's a bit expensive I want to buy so I can take advantage of the 10% off first purchase.

The stores in my area have them available as of this post. But I wouldn't count on them lasting long. Get those store pickup orders in now!
Thanks! I knew I couldn't get there until today and was worried what I would find. I always look on the shelf first to see if there are any left incase they picked the "regular" packaging (this has happened to me before) or mine is dented. There weren't any on shelves that I could see. When I picked up the order it actually was the steelbook and seemed in good shape. Before I could say anything, the associate told me that $2 would go back to my card as it was on sale. I assume that means they charged my card first even though they're not supposed to (always happens on my in store pickups) and that I will see a charge and a return. As long as I get the $2 back I'm good.

I get that people don't like the increased price, but one advantage of these steelbooks being separate in their system is it very difficult for them to screw up and confuse the regular version. Will not work when they go to complete the order by scanning the barcode. There have been many other exclusives at BB and other stores that are exactly the same other than some stick indicating which ones were special. Those are the ones that got mixed up all the time.

Glad you got one. Maybe people here should help each other out with Marvel steelbooks, buy buying one or two extra, like some have discussed with the DC Animated steelbooks at Target.

Re: Captain America Civil War - 9/13/16

Forget to pickup Civil War on Tuesday, went to pick it up at BestBuy on Wednesday night.

Walked in and saw the last Steelbook with the 3D, picked it and enjoyed watching it last night with the wife.

Re: Captain America Civil War - 9/13/16

I picked up the Collector's Edition this past week and I am more than happy with that.

I've picked up a steelbook here and there, but I really don't get the appeal of it being some kind of must have collector's item. I purchase a movie because I liked it and think it has replay value along with the bonus content. Not because I want some shiny metalic case that probably won't be seen by anyone except me. When I visited Best Buy late Tuesday afternoon, all the steelbooks were sold out already. I'm glad that this type of premium collecting doesn't interest me along with the premium prices.

Well, be careful, is there the slightest sound of "sour grapes" in your statement? I see collecting steelbooks no differently than collecting stamps, coins, baseball cards, movie ephemera or antiques. You do it because it brings you pleasure. I have no illusions that they will be worth more some day.
