Could this mean more Disney 4K titles on the way? I'm just interested in Pixar and maybe Captain America.

Disney has stated they will be getting into the 4K/UHD game sometime in 2017. Perhaps this is it. Yeah, I want all the Pixar and Marvel films on UHD.

Re: UHD release announcements
I'm in for that GoTGv2 Steelbook if it's as cool as (or matches) the first steelbook. Or if it's the only way to get the 3D. It would not surprise me if Disney bundles the 3D only with the UHD pack.
I really dug the 3D on this one.
Was gonna order and hope the price drops, but duh- bestbuy.CA

Re: UHD release announcements
I wonder if the idea isn't necessarily to cater to people with those types of displays (since they'd still have to choose between UHD and 3D, and how many will watch the same movie each way?) but just the allure of offering a choice, appealing to people who have 3D displays now and might dive into UHD down the road, or something along those lines.

Re: UHD release announcements
Gunn requested Disney to release GotG 2 on UBD. I was reading about it last month.
Here was the quote:
Here was the quote:
"I am really working hard to get the 4K HDR version out on home video when the movie is released on that format. I'm trying to get Disney to do it right off the bat, so we'll see if I am successful or not," Gunns says.

Re: UHD release announcements
Been holding back on a lot of Disney Blu rays waiting for the 4K discs. Hopefully this is happening this fall.
Not sure how many I'll double-dip, but I'll probably end up giving away a lot of my Blu rays to my nephews (have for of them ranging from age 3 to 6). My I mmediate family are far from early adopters, and I'm sure blu ray will be more than fine since they're not film nuts like me. I just don't see the hassle of selling my Blu rays when I won't get much value for them anyway.

Re: UHD release announcements
Just this Michael Schenker UHD BD, AFAIK. There are some opera releases as well, and maybe a handful of overseas titles (like Sammi Touch Mi 2). Pretty weak turnout, considering that concerts were all over the launches for the past few formats.

Re: UHD release announcements
That's what is holding me back. I want more than just a selection of movies and today's movies aren't all that great.

Re: UHD release announcements
Van Helsing is going to get a US 4k release. It's up on Amazon now though it's labeled a bit odd. I remember it being a fun movie, but just trying to decide if I want to give up my German "Reel Heroes" Blu-Ray (assuming anybody wants it, lol). I'll probably wait for reviews though just to be on the safe side.

Sort of annoying they announced these 1-2 months after the Blu-Rays released, but Get Out and Split are both coming to UHD September 12.

Re: UHD release announcements
Agreed, but they are out there for import so I had a feeling I should just wait. After seeing both on digital recently, I for certain want Split but have no need for Get Out. The later is a decent, even good movie just not one I care to see again.

Re: UHD release announcements
Figures, I just the received the 4K disc for Split yesterday from the U.K. Granted, it only cost me about $31 and change which isn't bad for an import price. I rented Split on Blu ray last month and thought the jump to 4K was pretty darn noticeabe to me. It's not "reference quality", but shouldn't disappointed fans.
I loved Get Out, and some of those tripy scenes will look great in 4K, but may wait a few months after release, like a Black Friday sale, before I'd buy it.
