blu-ray cases getting too slim?

Just got the Batman 4-movie pack. And the case is actually made for two discs, so they put two discs on top of each other on both sides of the case.

Another example:
Back to the Future trilogy: BD set is a tri-fold with thin slop cover. I remember the DVD set had a nice thick case. BTTF blus are still great though.

So just curious if there are some blu-ray movie box sets that sitll come in thicker cases or don't stack discs on top of each other.

Was thinking about other BD box sets like:
Superman 3 or 5-movie collection, Matrix trilogy, Harry Potter 8-movie set, Godfather trilogy and a few others.

Re: blu-ray cases getting too slim?

The stacker cases have been in use for quite a while; I know that Avengers 3D came in one, and my copy of Pacific Rim was in one, too.

I really dislike these cases; they can scratch discs if a bit of grit or debris gets between the discs and I have heard some reports that the stacked discs will stick together.

They're still kind of rare, though. They're generally only used for 3 or 4 disc sets instead of the more familiar "swing" cases and with DVDs and physical digital copies falling out of favor, most blu-rays max out at two discs.

Remember when DVDs first came out? Any kind of box set was ultra-thick and took up hordes of space.

Right, because taking up shelf space was considered an indicator of lots of content and good value.

I'd welcome thinner cases. My shelves are getting full.

I like the super thin cases of The Matrix trilogy BD set.
