Re-Animator - I see a German blu that has 3 different cuts on it. Is there still a cut missing that is only available on DVD.

Still needing some clarification on Trainspotting and Manhunter.

It does, but the extended cut is only in SD which I already had.

I know, but there is no reason to seek out and purchase the DVD (any special features excluded) since both are on the Blu. I'm trying to make a list of DVDs to keep or seek out. I'm just not going to go into VHS, Laserdisc, HDDVD, etc territory.

Adding Almost Famous theatrical cut.

Removing Army of Darkness TV Cut. Looks like the only way to get this is the German Koch Media Blu/DVD set.

The Lionsgate release of Trainspotting is the R-rated edit which uses alternate footage during the sex scene. Previous DVD release of the film in the U.S. were mislabeled as the R-rated cut, but were in fact the "unedited" cut that played elsewhere.

Removing Kung Fu Hustle. Unedited is available on Blu in other regions.

Same with Trainspotting.

Live Free or Die Hard's unrated cut was apparent only mastered in SD, so I doubt it'll be showing up, but it's worth noting.

Germany has a package with both of them. Wonder how good it looks?

My guess would be that it's just an upscale, but I haven't heard anything about it.

I haven't seen it but the Unrated cut is also available in HDX on Vudu. I'm assuming it's not an upscale -- the same cut is also available in every other region of the world except US and Canada on BD.

Does it also dub over the first 20 minutes or so? (Harvey wanted to tone down the accents) Apparently the version on netflix has the original US cut w the toned down accents. the 2 disc dvd has the original cut

Weird that it'd be edited on the Blu but not the DVD :headscratch:. I assume the UK Blu and probably most others are uncut?

Original double sided DVD had the theatrical cut
The SE DVD and Blu releases only have the mediocre extended version

Re: DVDs with cuts of the films missing from the Blu-rays

I've noticed a few more in my collection. I'm not too familiar with non-Region A blu-ray though, so if any of these cuts are available on blu-ray in other regions I apologize.

- Armageddon: Criterion DVD has Director's Cut, Disney Blu-Ray has Theatrical Cut only. No Criterion Blu-Ray.

- Bedknobs and Broomsticks: DVD has Extended 30th Anniversary Edition. Blu-Ray has Theatrical Cut only.

- Castle in the Sky: DVD has newly recorded score. Blu-Ray has Theatrical Release Score only.

- The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe: DVD has Extended Version. Blu-Ray has Theatrical Cut only.

- E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial: DVD has 2002 Enhanced Version. Blu-Ray has Theatrical Cut only.

- Enemy of the State: DVD has Extended Cut. Blu-Ray has Theatrical Cut only.

- House on Haunted Hill (1959): DVD has modern Colorized Version. Blu-Ray has Original Black & White Version only.

- The Lion King: DVD has Extended Special Edition. Blu-Ray has Theatrical Cut only.

- Memento: DVD has Chronological Version. Blu-Ray has Theatrical Cut only.

- Pearl Harbor: DVD has Director's Cut. Blu-Ray has Theatrical Cut only.

- Pocahontas: DVD has 10th Anniversary Version. Blu-Ray has Theatrical Cut only.

- Pretty Woman: DVD has Director's Cut. Blu-Ray has Theatrical Cut only.

- Sling Blade: DVD has Director's Cut. Blu-Ray has Theatrical Cut only.

Pocahontas - DVD actually has two versions, the theatrical and the extended cut via seamless branching.

Technically, so does The Lion King. I was just making note of the versions that are missing from the blu-rays.

I was going to say 1492: Conquest of Paradise, until I realized it was never even released in DVD in the U.S. How weird is that.

Has the Amadeus theatrical cut been released on any digital format in HD, like Vudu and such? It's odd that it's been so unceremoniously forgotten, would it be doable via branching?

Really? DVD Compare listed them all as the theatrical cut.

Zodiac. The home video release is labeled "director's cut," still rated R, and the theatrical cut was also rated R but had no such label. It could be a grey area, though, as the TC version may just be Fincher's preferred cut, but his interviews indicate otherwise. Anyway.

The original releases were the theatrical cut. The Die Had 4.0 release as part of the 25th Anniversary Die Hard Legacy Collection set was uncut (advertised as "The Harder Edition" in Australia).

I take back my original statement on just the US getting the shaft -- I was under the impression Fox released it uncut in all other territories.

Looks like it was just released in Australia and Germany. If you're so inclined (and its region free):

https://www.jbhifi.com.au/movies-tv-...ection/494584/

The German release was an Amazon.de exclusive and has long sold out, but you can see the disc in the image on its page:

http://www.amazon.de/Langsam-Collect...ard+legacy+blu

Or, if you just want to buy digitally, here's the Vudu listing:

http://www.vudu.com/movies/#!overvie...e-Hard-Unrated

No. But someone is working on a fanmade reconstruction, ala Harmy OOT edits.

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/top...p/topic/16803/

I'm not sure if a dual-layer 50GB disc would be enough space to offer both cuts of the film.
