EXODUS -GODS AND KINGS: 4 hour version...

Red-Carpet.de: "Exodus - Gods and Kings" takes about two and a half hours. Will there be a longer version for home theater?

Ridley Scott: We expect to publish an approximately four-hour version on DVD. But the theatrical version is already correct.

Can't wait for a loaded Blu-ray!

Spoiler:
I wish they would stop using the word DVD and instead say Blu-ray, hate that in interviews and commentaries, etc.

I actually liked that extended cut of Gladiator. But the TC is better.

Fuck! I'm in. The special features will be off the hook, too.

Charles de Lauzirika posted a picture of himself on the set on Facebook recently, so I'm assuming he's doing another doc. Which if that's the case, we can look forward to a 3-4 hour documentary.

Yeah. That guy is worth buying the BD alone. His stuff is insanely entertaining. Love his Blade Runner stuff.

Hopefully it's more Kingdom of Heaven and less Gladiator but either way I'll buy the extended version. Ridley Scott is usually pretty reliable when it comes to extended/Director's Cuts.

And if we get a feature length Charles de Lauzirika behind the scenes documentary that's just icing on the cake!

"DVD" why do these guys still continue to say that and not bluray or simply home video?

Nowadays I go for Ridley's BDs more for the latter.

Not sure how this flick could get better w/ an extended cut. What we had there still seemed flaw.

I'm not sure, but I think they're using the term "DVD" in a generic sense, as if it were a word that means any kind of disc with digital video on it. It's just like how some people refer to any lossy audio file as an MP3.

Has Scott ever had a movie make it to the theater that doesn't have at least an hour cut from it?

Yeah. People still say they've "taped" something on their DVR (which they call a Tivo, even though it's not), and they need to "rewind" it to go backward.

I thought 2.5 hours was a laborious experience, I'll gladly be skipping the 4 hour version.

I've heard that the 4 hour version will be much more violent and gory as you will see each and every first born son in Egypt being killed.

That sounds like the Terence Malick cut.

Re: EXODUS -GODS AND KINGS: 4 hour version...

"already correct"?

ba-hahahahahahaha

NOT

the first hour features blatantly bad film editing... I think Scott's overworking has made him a bit daft in the head.

I still do that from time-to-time, and often refer to albums on CD as "records." Hell, technically speaking, movies shot digitally aren't "films," but pretty much everyone calls them that. I try to call digital pictures "pictures" instead of "photos" though, since they aren't taken with film, but that's just semantics .

Prometheus shockingly didn't re add the deleted scenes back into the movie, unless Fox didn't want to pay the extra $ to make them look theatrical quality

Yes, well, when the sequel comes out, no doubt there will be a "director's cut" or "extended cut" or "Weylan Yutani" cut or "The Physical Media Market is Dead" cut or something. Do the deleted scenes make anything in the movie make more sense .
