So how is this on Blu-ray? I was hoping to get an opinion from others. I seem to recall a lot of people liking the fact that the OAR was 4:3 and shot on 35mm, saying it maintained the gritty aspect of the show. Also, the discs aren't in those stupid sleeves like The Shield and the DVD version of The Wire was, is it?

It's still $79.99 on Best Buy, if anyone is wondering. Although it has been at a lower price.

In short, it looks damn good. If the OAR change gets to you, then you won't like it no matter how good it looks. I don't like that the aspect ratio isn't the original, but I'm very happy with the new remastered look to it. No complaints here.

I like the new aspect ratio better. Just because it isnt 4:3 does not mean it cannot maintain the gritty aspect. Go for it.

Each season is in it's own 4 disc plastic case.

I had recently re-watched Seasons 1 and 2 on DVD so I started a re-watch of Season 3 with the Blu set. I love it! I'm willing to forgive the change of aspect ratio in exchange for the clarity and detail (with still evident grain). I'm glad my original viewing was in the OAR, but I will be watching Seasons 4 and 5 on Blu also.
