GRINDHOUSE RELEASING goes blu!
Independent U.S. distributors Grindhouse Releasing have announced their first two Blu-ray releases: Amos Sefer's An American Hippie in Israel (1972), starring Asher Tzarfati, Shmuel Wolf, and Lily Avidan, and Robert Hartford-Davis's Corruption (1968), starring Peter Cushing, Sue Lloyd, and Noel Trevarthen. The two releases will arrive on the market on September 10th.
Also planned for Blu-ray release in 2013 and 2014 are Sergio Sollima's The Big Gundown (1966), starring Lee Van Cleef, Tomas Milian, and Luisa Rivelli;, Frank Perry's The Swimmer (1968), starring Burt Lancaster, Janet Landgard, and Janice Rule; Duke Mitchell's Gone with the Pope (2010), starring Duke Mitchell, Lorenzo Dardado, and Jim LoBianco; and S.F. Brownrigg's Scum of the Earth a.k.a. Poor White Trash Part 2 (1974), starring Gene Ross, Ann Stafford, and Norma Moore.

Probably because The Swimmer is a well regarded movie that is OOP and sells for high amounts, as opposed to The Beyond which has been available on blu-ray for 2 years now and can be gotten rather cheaply.

I think you haven't checked the prices of The Beyond lately. That or you're mixing up the two.

Re: GRINDHOUSE RELEASING goes blu!
I'm really excited to hear someone's releasing The Swimmer. I just watched it for the first time two weeks ago on the R2 DVD. Great movie that's prompted a lot of rumination. I hope they provide some interesting supplements because otherwise I might stick with the DVD. Makes it more frustrating that Warner Archive has been stalled on Last Summer for what, three years now since first publicly discussing it?

Arrow's bluray of The Beyond can still be gotten for less than the cost of a dvd The Swimmer. I said that because I looked up copies on ebay and saw the anchor bay tin with bids for around $20, but copies of The Swimmer listed for $30 and $120.

I wrote a review of Corruption, and it's even better than I could've hoped: http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/61726/corruption/
The movie/Blu-ray release, not my review. Well, that too. I really shouldn't post when I first wake up.

Re: GRINDHOUSE RELEASING goes blu!
I've posted reviews of Massacre Mafia Style and Gone with the Pope. Cannot wait to tear into The Beyond once I knock out the rest of my review backlog. (I'm not writing about that one, though.)

I got back into the country yesterday after being out of it for nearly two weeks. First thing I did was pick up a bunch of BDs at Zia.
I'm not a fan of the packaging for The Beyond. It's a "slipcover" that has too much room as Grindhouse decided to put the soundtrack CD in it's own slipcase rather than just putting it inside the case itself.
