The goal of this list is to help potential buyers decide whether or not to upgrade/hold onto their standard-def versions of the discs based on whether or not the extra content available on SD-DVD is included.

- Missing production notes, photo galleries, and cast/crew biographies may or may not be noted. Obviously, this is only a guide. It never hurts to do your own research; a title that isn't listed may not have been updated onto the list yet.
- For now, this list is for Region A Blu-Ray discs and their R1 SD-DVD counterparts -- sorry, but it's a lot of work as it is!

The Empire of Dreams documentary is missing, and I think that there are some deleted scenes from the prequels missing, but I am not sure about which ones.

Also I don't know if you want to get into printed materials, but Criterion's Kagemusha bluray is missing an essay that was included with the dvd version.

The Empire of Dreams documentary is the biggest one, it's 2.5 hours and damn good.

And in addition to the missing original theatrical cuts, the Bluray cuts of A New Hope and Return of the Jedi have additional changes on top of the last DVD changes.

Also To Live and Die in L.A. was released as a BR + dvd combo pack with the extras on the dvd, but I think that version is out of print.

No way. That's most Blu-Rays. Studios were only really bad at porting in the early days.

Just realized, the Star Trek movies had three releases on DVD: original barebones, then the 2 disc SE's, then the two collections (TOS and TNG) that came out to promote the Abrams movie. The last one (the collections) also came out on Bluray. According to this site's reviews, the collections had different commentaries than the 2 disc SE's, so there's those older commentaries that weren't brought over from the old 2 disc DVD sets.

Plus, the director's cut of The Motion Picture, The Wrath of Khan and The Undiscovered Country are only on DVD; the Blurays are the theatrical cuts only (though that's the first time TUC has been available on any home video format in it's theatrical form).

I don't know if this counts, but the Highlander: Director's Cut 10th Anniversary Edition dvd featured a "Still Frame Slide Show" which was a several minute video clip that you had to pause and manually go frame by frame to view. It featured photographs of unfilmed deleted scenes and scans of script excerpts of the deleted scenes.

In terms of extras: the BDs have 95% of everything from the 2 disc releases. The extras from the 2 disc TMP are not all there (that's really the 5% missing).

Happily, they even ported over the easter eggs from the 2-disc sets (which are hidden in the menus). And the Star Trek Generations BD has the teaser and main theatrical trailers that were conspicuously absent on the 2 disc DVD set.

It would be nice to get the alternate cuts to 1,2, and 6, and the remaining extras to 1.

Despite Trek being less popular than Wars; Trek fans are treated much, much better when it comes to home video releases.
