As am I, I just wish their prices were more reasonable. Olive titles never seem to be heavily discounted on Amazon either. I picked up Geisha Boy for $14.14 shipped from DD and Rock-A Bye Baby for around the same from B & N, but the former was part of a sale and for the latter I used a discounted giftcard. Family Video sells Olive titles for $17.99, which is still too high for me.

It's hard to complain about Olive Films prices, after picking up Picnic and Rapture from Twilight Time.

re: The Olive Films Blu-ray Thread

So excited to hear that Olive films has acquired the Republic Films Library. I'm hoping that films such as Invasion of the Body Snatchers and High Noon make their way onto Blu-ray.

Invasion is one of the few titles I'd pre-order regardless of price.

I want it too. I have the Kaufman version but the original is still the best IMO.

Going to have to disagree with you there - in my opinion, the original is one of the best sci-fi films of the 1950's, but the 1970's version is one of the best sci-fi films ever made.

That's cool. The Kaufman version is very fine filmmaking, and the BD release is very good quality. If all remakes were this good, I'd probably have less problems with remakes of classic movies.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who feels his BD collection isn't quite complete without both of them.

I agree...the remake is very good, but the original is a classic. I would love to see both versions of the original make their way onto a Blu-ray release, with and without the framing device.

Hopefully they'll port over the High Noon extras.

Body Snatchers I'm especially looking forward to - I just wish that Olive titles weren't so damn expensive. Between these two, Space Children, Colossus of New York, and whatever other Republic/Paramount stuff they put out in the second half of this year, I'll be cleaned out!

Nope:
• THE MAKING OF HIGH NOON (1992 – 23 MINUTES) - NARRATED BY LEONARD MALTIN
Includes Interviews with LLOYD BRIDGES | STANLEY KRAMER | FRED ZINNEMANN | JOHN RITTER | DAVID CROSBY | Archival Interview with GARY COOPER
• THEATRICAL TRAILER
And zip for Body Snatchers. Both are 'restored in HD from the film's original negative' though. Here's what was dropped from High Noon:

• Commentary by Maria Cooper-Janis, Jonathan Foreman, Tim Zinneman, John Ritter, and David Crosby.
• Featurette: Inside High Noon (49:56).
• Featurette: Behind High Noon (9:47).
• Featurette: Tex Ritter: A Visit to Carthage Texas (5:57).
Tex Ritter performing the Oscar winning theme song on The Jimmy Dean Show (2:54)
• Radio broadcast with Tex Ritter on the Ralph Emery Show (5:35)
I guess I'll just stick my High Noon disc into the Blu-ray case then.

High Noon and Invasion of the Body Snatchers?! Despite extras being dropped, that still makes me very happy.

This was posted on HTF:

I contacted Olive and was told that Johnny Guitar "is right around the corner."

Agreed! I consider it one of the greatest American films of the 1950's, so I'm looking forward to retiring my washed-out German DVD.

Body Snatchers! Johnny Guitar! In HD!

With these two, the Godard releases, and 1900 (among others), Olive is turning out to be one of the most exciting labels.
