re: The Olive Films Blu-ray Thread
Thanks for the tip. Are you not able to pre-order titles? I tried to add Colossus, Space Children, and several other upcoming Olive discs only to be told 'Not yet released, coming soon'. Also, do they ship titles as they become available?

Never tried preordering from them before so I guess not but my order was shipped within the next day and I got them within a week. The company is siblings with DeepDiscount (I believe) and will be package the same as DD's.

importcds is definitely the cheapest for Olive dvds and blus, also Kino blus.
But their pre-orderign system baffles me, for example a lot of the to come Olive titles show up 'on sale' for $14ish but you cant add them to your cart.

I've ordered from ImportCDs before and I think I was able to add pre-orders to the cart.
I did have one bad experience with them..they sent me a completely wrong order and it took them days to answer my e-mail...and then more angry e-mails from me and weeks before they allowed me to return the shipment and credit my account (including the amount I paid for shipping it back). They would not send me a replacement shipment after they received it. I did not order from them for months as I was so upset by the poor customer service.
My last order from them took almost 3 weeks to get to me as it was stuck in New Jersey for over a week...I have no idea why. But they did answer my e-mail about the shipment within one day so maybe they are improving on their CS.

They are rolling out some big guns in the classics department, with this, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and a couple of others. I only own one Olive release so far, but they will be parting me from more money for sure this year.

^ They really are rolling out some huge titles. I don't own any Olive films yet, not that I'm not interested but because they have been a little higher than I want to spend, but some of these titles will likely cause me to raise my spending threshold. I would love to watch the original and '70s versions of Invasion of the Body Snatchers during this year's Horror Challenge. Yes, I'm already thinking that far ahead!

i only on AMER from Olive and that's a solid disc...can't speak for their catalog releases. i have HIGH NOON on pre-order and i look forward to snagging most of these releases even if they're around the $20 mark. rather have this than what Twilight Time is doing.

DVD Beaver on Run for Cover, Too Late Blues, Denver and Rio Grande and Silver City.
At roughly $16 each shipped from importcds, I can see myself scooping up quite a few of these Olive discs.

Huh, I just watched Pursued last night.
I haven't picked up many of their releases yet (I think the last one I bought was the BD of Fassbinder's Despair,) but as soon as Johnny Guitar comes out I'm going to get seven or eight different titles from that ImportCDs site.

More August titles:
Private Hell 55 is minor Siegel, but I always enjoy watching Lupino. I haven't subjected myself to My Son John, but it's supposed to be the most infamous of all the 1950's anti-Communist propaganda pieces. Captain Carey looks like a relatively routine film, but I'd give it a rental.

Olive Films is putting out interesting titles. I don't have any yet, but will buy"High Noon" and "Invasion of the Body Snatchers."

FYI, for those interested in picking up some Olive titles, Importcds have just told me that a 10% off the entire order voucher will be out on Thursday.
