Damn, I might have to get this in advance of an actual 3D TV.

the shortest IMAX film is 'To Fly' at 27min, but even 45 minutes is pushing the running time, they are generally 42 minutes - 'Ghost of the Abyss' is the longest, clocking in at 59 minutes.

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.

Thanks for the feedback from everyone! I welcome still more if anyone wants to chime in more about the IMAX 3D titles. Always good to get some discussion going in here.

I watched Under the Sea. At times, some of the images really are stunning. Other moments seemed a bit underwhelming, as far as 3D goes anyway. I can see tossing in this title when I have someone over who hasn't seen the setup and we want to check out something in 3D but don't have time for a movie or if I know we'll probably talk through it.

My main issue is the same as what trespoochies and Giles brought up. Considering how many 3D movies I have purchased for the same $14.99 price or below, it made me question if it was worth the money I spent on it. Honestly, I think my price point for these went down to $9.99. I do think they'll be really cool to own. I really want to check out the one Nick Martin described! But it's hard to justify $15 or more for something so short, although strangely I can see them possibly getting some more replay value when company is over precisely because they are short. Just my opinion anyway! I certainly understand if others view the titles as being worth the price tag.

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.

The problem I had with underwater documentaries is that because there is so much to see, it's hard for some of the more dense scenes where there is something going on in every area of the screen to know where to focus, and that causes some eyestrain (for me). Also when something gets too close to camera the focus is totally thrown off and it feels like I'm going cross-eyed. That happened with the sea lion in "Under The Sea" when it came right up at the camera near the end, and earlier with the sea snakes as they trailed off to the lower left of the frame.

Okay, a bit of tech support please. When I tried to watch both Tintin and Tron on my Panasonic 3D TV, with the Pansonic 220 Blu-ray player, the 3D didn't seem to work - the image was blurry, and looked identical whether I was wearing the glasses or not. I made sure the glasses - TY-EW3D3MU, 2011 glasses for my 2011 TC-P65ST30 TV - were fully charged first, and tried both pairs of glasses. Identical result. I wear glasses, so had the 3D ones over my glasses, but was told that shouldn't make a difference, and I've watched several 3D films in the theater without any problems.

I have a Panasonic 3D TV as well and the 3D content is detected automatically and put out as such, so you might want to check the blu-ray player settings to see if its set properly. And I know you said it before but I will double check the glasses are charged or with the on switch (i know it sounds dumb, but i done it before)

Yes to both - when I turn the glasses on, the red light goes on for 2 seconds, and then blinks every two seconds, which the brochure says indicates, respectively, that the glasses are fully charged and that 3D mode is selected. When I put the Blu-ray in, the TV says 'Full 3D' in the upper corner of the screen.

Turns out it was operator error - my central speaker was blocking the signal area, even though the red light wasn't obscured and the remote worked fine. Now to wait until it gets dark and watch Tintin...

Oh thanks for your suggestions, clckworang. I added Cave of Forgotten Dreams and Final Destination 4 to my queue, but couldn't find any other 3D titles.

I would say Final Destination 5 is much better than 4. As a movie and 3D.

"Journey to the Center of the Earth" is a good one. The movie is a piece of shit but the 3D is very good throwing everything at your face from yo-yos to books

Wait are you streaming for requesting discs? Does Netflix have streaming 3D?

I don't think Netflix offers streaming 3D, but I'm disc-only now.

Is it bad that I preordered three of these even though I don't have a 3D display yet

I even picked up Harold and Kumar Christmas yesterday on Amazon when I saw the price drop to $19.99. My plan is to get a new projector late summer or early fall, waiting to hear the specs on the update to the VW95

Fright Night had some good 3-D effects, only bad thing is it is a mostly night movie and dark shots don't look so great in 3-D.

Still waiting for Fright Night to drop to a decent price- greedy Di$ney. I'll probably get Journey 2 as I just watched the first one and enjoyed it, maybe Ghost Rider if I can get around to watching my copy of the first movie before that comes out. Probably won't get John Carter since it's converted 3D and Di$ney will probably want a ton of money for it too so it can sit on the shelves next to all those unsold $36 Mars Needs Moms discs. Anyone know if Wrath of the Titans was actually shot in 3D?

John Carter is $29.96 right now at Amazon, and they were offering $5 clippable coupon, so I got it when it showed up in my quick pick offers, so my price is $23.46.

Wrath is converted 3D, but at least the director and effects people were aware that this was going to become a 3D movie, so the movie was filmed with 3D in mind, unlike Clash of the Titans.

I'm guessing that if Jaws 3D were in fact arriving on 8/14 along with the first film, we would have heard an announcement already?

Has there been official confirmation? All I've seen is the Blu-ray.com placeholder for the film.
