I've been very underwhelmed at some of the 3D presentations I've seen recently. Spiderman should have been a tentpole 3D experience. But there were very little scenes that added anything in 3D. Waste of money.

Agreed on Spider-man: Homecoming. Even the
Spoiler:
Washington Monument
scene was disappointing.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 and War Of The Planet Of The Apes both had excellent 3D though. I only saw Wonder Woman in 2D (went for the Ultrascreen showing and there were, disappointingly, not any showings on that screen in 3D) and I'm guessing there were some good 3D moments in that one.

I'll probably pass on the 3D BD's for WW and S-M:H but I'm definitely in for GOTG2 and WOTPOTA.

Okay, I've just joined the ranks of 3D, with my first 3D projector.

I already owned:

Creature From the Black Lagoon
It Came From Outer Space
Dial M For Murder

I've recently picked up:

Jaws 3D
Godzilla (2014)
Kong Skull Island
House of Wax
Pacific Rim
Inferno
Gog

What are the other "must-have" 3D titles for you guys?

Welcome to the fold Ky-Fi! Some good starter discs there.

And Scott, the 3D in the new Ghostbusters was good, but pretty sure most would rather gouge out their eyes than re-watch that film.

Strangely enough, I just watched most of the new Ghostbusters for the first time on TV today, and yes, I generally share Trevor's assessment of that movie.

Avatar is a really good, and for silly but fun use of 3D, Drive Angry is a really fun one.

Kong has some pretty good depth and nice aerial shots, but the rest didn't seem so hot, though I am less than 1/4 into it...

Looking at my collection I currently own 99 3D blu rays. If I don't buy anything for the next couple weeks, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will be number 100.

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.

Really disappointed in what is going on with 3D now. I noticed that my local BB doesn't have any new titles released over the month or two with 3D on the shelf. 4K was given more space instead.

Better yet, many people cannot get a copy of Ghost in the Shell 3D if they tried, unless they pay 48.99 on Amazon. It's backordered and OOS on numerous sites!

Is it worth the blind buy?

I thought about seeing this in the theater but never did. Since going to the movies would cost me 30 bucks for my son and I to see it, I wouldn't feel so bad about spending the money for it. But all my blind buys lately have been turkeys.

I rented the regular version from the library yesterday and didn't really enjoy it. I'm sure the 3D looks great, but the movie didn't really hold my attention.

I also really liked Warcraft.

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.

Just watched the remake of Point Break 3D tonight and highly recommend it. The 3D is solid throughout and the colors really pop.

Yeah, the movie is not near as good as the original but they change up the plot and stunts enough to make it interesting. It's worth checking out.

Step Up 3, 4 and 5!

Ghost in the Shell is now showing up as unavailable in that Target link- glad I preordered it from Best Buy a week early after seeing their stores weren't going to have it. Guess I'll have to do that with everything from now on- but hopefully if stock is selling out quickly that shows there's still demand for 3D! I'm around 320 or so 3D titles now, if they stop putting them out at least I'll have plenty to watch and the studios just won't get much more of my money. 2D 4K can bite me.

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.

The IMAX 3D discs like Under the Sea are the most enjoyable for me. Most of this converted stuff doesn't impress me, looking like those old Viewmaster reels with the layered 3D effect. I did see Wonder Woman in 3D in the theaters, and it had a lot of that effect, the cardboard cutout look. That said, I do own a couple hundred 3D discs, mainly since the price difference from regular Blu-ray is minimal, I figure it's worth having the option.

The movie isn't nearly as terrible as the reviews and word-of-mouth made it out to be, but it definitely takes a classic anime and dumbs it down considerably to turn it into a very generic sci-fi action flick. Pretty much every story change makes the movie less interesting than the original.

It's rental material, IMO. I wouldn't pay a lot of money to own it in any format.

I typically agree with your opinions so I may just keep mine sealed for now and rent it or stream it. It seems to be getting hard to find already.

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.

I guess I am going to have to preorder upcoming 3D titles since it seems they are cutting stock to stores.

I had to go to Ebay for a copy of GitS with a slipcover which is sad for a brand new release.

Is the Golden Age of 3D Officially Over?
The reign of 3D is over in US cinemas
