Why are you surprised of the lack of commentary on here. The Coens have done a total of One commentary (The Man Who Wasn't There), and you can tell on the track how much they disliked the process. I highly doubt we'll ever get another one with the two of them.

With her Oscar nomination, that will certainly change for the next movie she makes.

The presence and order of names in the poster and video art is mandated by contract. These things are locked down before the movie is even made. The girl is 14 years old and this was her first significant film role. She did not have the pull to rate an above-the-title listing.
With her Oscar nomination, that will certainly change for the next movie she makes.

If Hallie had gotten that Oscar I bet they would have at least slapped a sticker on that cover with her name and the win.

I wouldn't count on it. I just received a screener for The Fighter, and the sticker on the cover only mentions the movie's Oscar nominations, not its two wins.

Of course, she didn't win so it doesn't really matter, but that's why The Fighter didn't have the stickers advertising its wins on screeners (by the release day Tuesday, they might've made new ones for store shelves).

No stickers hastily slapped onto the outside of the shrinkwrap = no sale!

I'm sure those were made up before the Oscar telecast and since it shipped not long after, they didn't have the chance to make new stickers and put them on the covers. There's still another three months until True Grit's release which would've been more than enough time.

I was essentially talking about offering a combo release with both movies along with individual releases. Give consumers a choice. As it is, I'll probably only buy the new movie.

Yes, I'm sure there are exceptions, but it's rare. I was just going off some of the expectations in this thread, where it seemed that people felt including the original with the remake was the norm.

- Tron Legacy / Tron
- You've Got Mail / Shop Around the Corner
- Fantasia 2000 / Fantasia
- The Day the Earth Stood Still / Original
- Mirrors 2 / Original Asian movie
I like this practice, as long as we get a choice or get it absolutely Free (Not like Fantasia, which costs more and we don't get a choice)
Edit - Actually Tron & Fantasia is a sequel rather than remake, so ignore those - since these sequels took so long, it just seemed to fit in this discussion at first
