Whi 3D Won't Work...
Here's an interesting article by Walter Murch explaining why 3D won't work.

Re: Whi 3D Won't Work...
I'm a huge fan of Mr. Murch and respect his technical opinions to no end.
That said, he can say that 3D "won't work" all he wants to, but the fact remains that it does and in the here and now- future tense need not apply.
In fact, Murch's comments explicitly state that 3D films do "work", but he describes the limitations inherent in the medium which, in turn, suggest the requirements of the production 'vocabulary' necessary to produce them well.
For Ebert to interpret this as "3D will never work. Case closed." is akin to saying that sound films will never work because it's possible to put an irritating high-pitched squeal on a soundtrack. The old "Doc, it hurts when I do this..." joke comes to mind.
Yes, of course, there is some subject matter which doesn't work as well in 3D, just like there is some which doesn't work as well in widescreen or in color, etc.

Whi 3D won't work? Is that Nintendo's next game system? The Virtual Boy had pretty good 3-D, even if the only color it could do was red.

Not sure whether this remark pertains to the the HD Talk subforum, but haven't you heard, Blu-ray and 3D are doomed technologies: http://cnettv.cnet.com/doomed-techno...-50099215.html

3D works just fine in my head when I see it in theaters and on my TV. What the fuck are Ebert and Murch talking about?
Is it doomed? Sure, but every technology dies some day because it's replaced with something better.

I'm still confused as to why the OP put an "i" where the "y" is supposed to be, cuz by looking at my key board....they're apart by the letter "u"....so why the "i" on what's supposed to be why but instead is now a "whi"..fuck..I'm rhyming here.
