So does the whole 3 hours of extras have giant subs or is it only a certain portion? I was scanning through some of the extras and it didn't have giant subs, which is why I was guessing that both have been corrected.

That's a good question, I don't have the answer for you since I watched the documentary on the original, flawed disc, and haven't revisited since. Anyone else know?

I sent an e-mail to Mill Creek asking how I could tell if mine is the fully corrected version or not. I ran across this article (http://www.scifijapan.com/articles/2...ting-replaced/) from April that said they had versions with corrected subtitles on the film and correctly sized subs on the extras, so I'm hoping that is indeed the version I got.

I got a reply and it turns out mine is the latest version. I'm glad I waited.

Sorry to bump such an old thread, but I just got the Gamera 3 blu-ray. I didn't really notice any subtitle problems. I asked Mill Creek and they said the version I got is the original, supposedly messed up version. I did notice that the subtitles were, most of the time, not exactly what they were saying in english. I just took this to be that the english subtitles are really for the japanese language track and not the english audio track.

Is there any way to know if the Gamera trilogy set that I bought at Walmart yesterday has the correct version of Gamera 3 without opening it?

I don't think so, but they're really good at sending out the replacement discs. I had to do it twice.

If it's in a single blu-ray case, it should be fine since that's a more recent release. If it in two cases, there should be a number on the spine that indicates what version it is.

Mine says 63054-12-A. Any idea if that's the defective version?

I'm happy to hear that. The one that I got was in the $7.88 bin, is in a single Blu-Ray case, and had a slip cover. I'm going to open it later tonight or tomorrow and start watching these. I'm on a giant monster kick now.
