The percentage drops this year have just been harsh.
Am I the only one who feels like you're watching a favorite hobby slowly die week after week?

Numbers here in Germany are quite different. Blu-ray sales (2015: 418m Euro) continue to rise every year, DVD sales (2015: 829m Euro) are slowly starting to shrink, and digital/streaming is still some sort of a niche thing. 92% of the market share belongs to physical media in Germany. It is amazing how these numbers differ compared to the US.

"Loeffler estimates that Germany, which last year accounted for just under a third (32.4 percent) of total Blu-ray Disc sales in Western Europe, will increase its share to 40 percent by the end of this year. By 2017, she forecasts, some 36.5 million Blu-ray Discs will be sold annually in Germany, 44.1 percent of the 82.7 million sold across Western Europe. In contrast, number of Blu-rays sold in the U.K. will barely budge, with IHS forecasting a total of 19 million unit sales in 2017."

Why is Germany so married to physical media? The trend seems to be in countries that are highly 'wired', e.g., the ROK, they are moving toward digital distribution over high-speed Internet. I would think that Germany (like most of western Europe) is on this cutting edge.

Because the quality of physical media is still better!

Wonder how many UHD copies Deadpool sold? That was the first one I ended up buying even though I won't be able to play it for a while.

Even the Japanese, probably the most devoted lovers of physical media, have recently started seeing streaming chip into Blu-ray sales. It doesn't help that Japanese BDs are wildly overpriced.

The unit breakdown is more telling... since we know BD prices are higher.
So after 10 years since the formats release, even with a VERY BD-favourable title like Deadpool - almost 70% of the disc sales were accounted for by DVD.

Is this actual revenue, or is it based on MSRP? Or wholesale prices? Or actual revenue?
Because it's not unusual for a new release to have a MSRP of $40, which then sells at retail for $20. If they're calculating from MSRP, you can cut a big chunk out of the numbers.
