Argento's 'Phenomena' 'Tenebrae' 'Deep Red' from Arrow Video (UK) July/Aug

no word on the supplement features but the bluray's for Dario Argento's 'Phenomena' 'Tenebrae' and 'Deep Red' are up for preorder on Amazon.co.uk via Arrow Video:

Tenebrae streeting July 26th

Deep Red Aug. 2

Phenomena Aug. 30

unless Anchor Bay/Starz does anything to prevent this release from being exported, I'd expect these to be region free like Arrow's other UK blurays.

Arrow's most recent BD release (Departures) is region B-locked.

Inferno (1980) is due in UK on August 2 as well!

All great news.

Blue Underground has the rights to Deep Red. Anchor Bay/Starz has Tenebrae and Phenomena. I'm surprised that neither studio have released as much Argento as they could have...

It depends on lots of things...sometimes tie-ins, sometimes they try and group a group of similar movies together, sometimes they see little sales etc. Curious to see if these will be Region Locked or not - all depends on Star/Anchor Bay and Blue Underground.

I got a rude remark for side stepping the topic on another thread, but from what I read regarding Blue Underground's release of 'City of the Living Dead' was that both Arrow and Blue weren't region locked because they had exclusive content to each bluray version (not really a real valid reason, but hey. I'm glad). As to Anchor Bay, I had asked awhile back when we could expect to see more Argento on blu, and their attitude was rather non-plussed and vague. Given the price of 'Tenebrae' I don't think we'll see alot of supplements - of course I could be wrong.

Please don't be region-locked. I don't want to wait for Stateside versions and I don't want to have to buy a region-free player (I generally watch Blu-Rays on my computer player).

Didn't know where to put this.

Credit goes to Marcel H. over at AVManiacs, Camera Obscura is releasing a BD for Inferno.

Is this going to be a Region A release?

Not sure about that. I don't think they've done any other BD releases.

The only Camera Obscura release I own is their release of Orozco The Embalmer, which I believe was a NTSC R0 release though the label is out of Germany I think.

They were not region locked because both Blue Underground and Arrow shared the costs in the new transfer. They each retained some sort of exclusive content (produced by them or not...not really sure), to appeal to the fans who have to 'have it all'. Since neither is Region Locked, you can pick which version you want to buy no matter where you are located. I got Arrow's for the superior packaging. Looks classy an was only $20ish shipped from the UK.

A heads up that 5 seconds of Inferno has been cut by the British film board (actual name escapes me).

I was actually going to wait for the a sale price to drop from Amazon before I bought the BU edition, but forgot to cancel my order, oops, it arrived in the mail on Tuesday, guess I'll just keep it now - how are some of you getting the UK edition so quickly? I have two books in my order from Amazon.co.uk but I wouldn't think that'd be a factor.

Amazon UK skips faster than Amazons free service here in the states.

Thanks for the heads up. And it was either that shot or a shot of a cat eating a mouse or something along those lines. Its been a long day haha.

And its super disappointing its cut, even by a few seconds that aren't really important to the story, but it took me from being incredibly excited to hesitant about buying it.

You are right. That scene is the one that is mentioned over at AVManiacs.

Am I the only one wishing the shorter U.S. version of Deep Red would be released in widescreen in the U.S.? I think it'd be great if both versions were included on a future release, since I really do not like the longer version at all.

Agreed, I enjoy the shorter horror-only version of Deep Red rather than the comedic longer version which Anchor Bay has slapped together.

Update:

Word over at AVManiacs board is that the BBFC per request is looking over the cut footage in Inferno. Who knows, they might change their mind?

The BBFC has passed Inferno as uncut. cult-labs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2995
